Leeds Utd v Preston North End

    Thursday 26th December 2019 17.15 | Elland Road

Leeds welcome the Lilywhites to Elland Road on Boxing Day for an early evening kick off; hoping to get back to wining ways having once again succumbing to the London jynx.

This time however, its Preston's who must try and overturn the curse - they have only beaten Leeds once in ten matches.

Having suffered four consecutive losses, Alex Neil's men have picked up seven points from nine as they look to solidify a play off place.

Preston will be without Joe Rafferty and Darnell Fisher who are both suspended.

Hernandez has been ruled out of action for a month following the hamstring injury he picked up in the opening minutes at Craven Cottage at the weekend, but are bolstered by the return of Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton.

During Bielsa's pre match press conference, the Argentine told the press that he intends to start with Dallas and Alioski in Midfield.

Barry Douglas is suffering with an illness and will not make the bench.

On form striker Patrick Bamford, who has netted 6 times in eight games, will be looking to add to his tally to try and stretch the gap between 2nd and 3rd back to double digits.

Unfortunate but not in the least surprising to lose pablo at this crucial stage. Don’t know what the stats are but we are far less potent without him. Hopefully he gets to play at least 50% of. Remaining games. We simply don’t have anyone else who can do what he does and we’ve no intention clearly of trying to sign any kind of replacement for him at this stage. Preston game is a must must win. If we’re to be serious top two contenders we need to win these games against top six sides at home and stop depending on other teams fecking up. Four points from nine so far over Xmas would be bang average, anything less would be shocking

Phillips will always be ahead of the rest regarding passes and ps% while most of his passing is sideways and backwards.

Apart from Phillips and Harrison, those stats are wrong, both Pablo and Klich have made numerous through ball passes, it's what they do.

I’m going for a convincing three goal win, 3-0 or 4-1.

I’d settle for a scrappy 1-0 win to be honest.

We should beat Preston. I was thoroughly unimpressed when we played them away so at home we should get back to winning ways.

See that some are already getting prepped to go into full panic mode...

8 points ahead of 3rd is hardly must win territory.

Keep the faith, keep playing well and as earlier in the season the results will follow eventually.

Yes but let's cut the players some slack.

We've had a great first half of the season and there will be bumps and blips aplenty throughout the remaining games. Enjoy it , embrace it and and live and breathe it as I know you do.

Whatever happpens we'll be in the mix come April/May so let's try to keep some perspective and not crank up the pressure unnecessarily.

Doubt anything said here cranks up any pressure unless some of our posters are actually players in disguise. Hmm there’s a thought. Matt could be Bielsa with his pearls of wisdom daily. LL maybe Philips just fishing for compliments

Last season around this time of year I predicted we would finish 4th.

It was therefore no surprise when our season tailed off, it was always going to be really tough to finish top two.

This season we're better, stonger mentally and fully on course to finish 2nd in my opinion.

Shall we have this debate again ?

All social media and internet content has an effect on the mood of the supporters, some of whom who attend the stadium.

Which, I believe does influence the players in a potentially negative way, they are only human and feel the extra anxiety from the crowd. Defering or delaying this almost inevitable crowd participation for as long as is possible has to be to our adavantage.

    Please dont be facetious...

Personally I've been to many home games where it's been practically impossible for some players to perform to their best capabilities due to the moans and groans. That's just one example of how supporters can influence on field perfomances.

Supporters mindsets are heavily influenced by what they read during the week and therefore it affects their mood come matchday. Whether you like it or not we all contribute, albeit in a tiny way, to the general feeling around our club.

Same with all clubs. In the current climate millions of comments appear daily between all social platforms I suspect. No way of controlling it as with all other stuff. It’s how individuals with it

Same with the racist stuff then ?

Some (on here) think a bit of casual racism is fine so will carry posting it forever, or tell black people to man up and deal with it as it's no big deal.

Personally I think it's time we drew a line on this forum...it's literally gone way beyond a joking (banter) matter.
