I have bleated enough on my views on Gardner and how i thought he was our best transfer of the summer... After reading this article.. CRAIG Gardner knows that his best chance of guaranteeing a regular place in Sunderlandâs starting line-up this season lies in the goals standard. The 24-year-old opened his account for Sunderland at the weekend when he notched the third goal in the Black Catsâ 4-0 mauling of Stoke City. And with competition for places intense in the Wearsidersâ engine room, Gardner knows that it is his goals which could set him apart from his team-mates this season. Manager Steve Bruce spent £5m on the former Birmingham City player on the strength of the 10 goals he scored for the relegated Blues, and Gardner acknowledged: âI have come here with a reputation for scoring goals and I am keen to keep that going. âThere is no doubt goals are a big part of what I do and I am also aware the club maybe has not scored a lot of goals from midfield in the past. âSunderland have put faith in me by paying a fair bit of money to sign me from Birmingham and I donât want to let them down. âThat means producing on the pitch and scoring goals.â http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport..._gardner_eyes_more_after_stoke_goal_1_3789805 Got me thinking, who's gonna finish as our top scorer? Will it be Bendtner, who is the striker and should be. Larsson, already got two. Sess, always a fans favorite. Gardner, he's of and running at last. Or A.N.Other, always a popular choice, so has to be included.
Tricky one that. I'd say Bendtner. I don't think he will score too many though. I think you guys will have more goals spread out over a lot more players this season instead of having one or two specific players who bag most of them. Sort of how we were last season.
I think once Bendtner opens his account he'll be scoring regular, if we get him the service I think he's good for 10-15. After last season, Gardner will be aiming for 5-10 as should Sessegnon. I think Larssen will be looking to get 5-10 too and Rico is aways good for 3-4 goals a season as could bardo. I think bramble O'shea and maybe Brown could chip in few a few goals here and there from.sebs set pieces. All in all if we stay tight at the back and continue where we left off against Stoke we could have a canny season
Bendtner has started 71 games for Arsenal and scored 41 goals in those 71 games - not a bad return all in all (and a fact that a lot of fans seem to overlook!)
He's only scored 45 goals full stop, so are you saying in 83 sub appearances he's scored 4 goals? That seems unusual. Mind you, 14 of his goals have came from cup games, with 9 coming from European competitions (which is good mind). EPL wise, he's scored 22 goals total in, I believe 99 appearances. Not sure how many of those are starts. Certainly seems like the type of striker who needs full games to get into the swing of things like.
A hard call on this one Commacio, as we dont seem at present, to have an out and out goal machine, would like Bendtner to sparkle, but a Superkev, I dont think he is, but given time, may turn out to be a good bit of biz. best of luck to him anyway.
Getting carried away after one result here lads no? I wouldn't start counting chickens yet. As for counting how many goals your team is going to score...jeez. Gardner to get into double figures wont' happen. He sits there and takes a load of credit for his goals last season in the league, like he's the new Frank Lampard, but had he not been sent off twice his team could have earned the extra point they needed to stay up, if he'd managed to score just one more goal. Guy's a joke and believes his own hype way too much. Bendtner scored his 45 goals with the service of players like Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri, just to name a few of the top players at Arsenal over the past few years. He isn't going to get anywhere near the same level of service at Sunderland is he? NO he isn't. Nowhere near the same level.
****ing idiot getting carried away. It was your fans being interviewed on T.V. who said you could get into Europe this year and one deluded twat on day release even said Champions League in 2-3 years. All this with a Chairman who has Carrols money spinning around on a wheel shouting red or black
I think Bendtner will get 10-15 which will be enough. Larsson will get 5-10 as will Gardener and Sess and that's the difference this year we will probably get 40-50 goals but they will come from a mixture of people.
