What irked me at the time was how the process was managed and administered. Sincerely I hope lessons have been learned and should any bans be neccessary in future that long time posters are treated differently to casual wums who just drop by. Eric nor Glory were given any notification of their bans and if it wasn't for Eric's ingenuity in getting himself reinstated then we would have been non the wiser. Also as someone in a position of authority your posts on the old Saloon Bar thread were unecessary and a little self indulgent, mainly because utlimately the link between Eric and Glory proved to be incorrect and therefore they looked worse and were definitely poorly timed when viewed in that light. Personally I think Glory probably deserved a ban...but ultimately we're all friends on here (even LL) and so a life ban was far too extreme. Whether a banned poster would choose or wish to return is not really the point in my opinion. We're a forum of life long fans of the same team and that binds and bonds us together, casting someone aside for all eternity just seems wrong. And yes that does mean posters like Clivetime and Bluememe should always be given a chance to show they are capable of reforming.
Maybe they should do community service... and undergo a period of rehab to see if they are capable of reform. Perhaps we could electronic tag them so mods are alerted the instant they return. Clive and blue meme get banned from everywhere, but it’s just a sentence, where is the love shown and the concern for fellow man? Send them to Wum correction school with headmaster Graysin and deputy MON.
From a personal point, I'll take your comments on board, I'd much prefer someone to speak openly to me rather than let a grievance bubble under. I honestly can't remember what I put on the Saloon Bar thread but you are not the first to point out that my style of posting at the time was coming over in a gloating fashion, it wasn't intended that way but as Eric pointed out elsewhere it is how it is perceived that should be of concern not how it was meant. I've spoked to Eric via PM and appologised to him directly if I have upset him and I'll happily do the same openly. For a long time I seriously doubted he was actually in Australia and it seems I was wrong. Your treatment at the time Eric was poor and for my part I appologise. In regards to a life ban for Glory, I don't believe a time scale was put on it, I know it was like WW3 for a while afterwards and lots was said by many so I'm not too sure how it was eventually left. Let's just say that some time back Glory contacted Elland via Twitter and he didn’t help his cause for a return so I think it is just one of those bans that has been allowed to rumble on. Would I approach it different next time - Yes so I guess lessons have been learned.
Would be nice if you could get up for a game sometime and we could all have beer and a good laugh about it. BRB stated it was a life ban and nothing as far as I'm aware has altered since then. My understanding of these things is that the ban remains in place until our mods request otherwise, as that seems unlikley I guess that life will mean life in this case. To be completely honest for all I know Eric and Chippy might indeed be one and the same and until someone actually meets Eric there always remains that possibilty, but then there are a few that fall into that category so guess we'll never know about some posters.
