As an aside i tell you what makes me laugh/pìsses me off. Next door had a line fault, An engineer came out and our line went down. We had to report the fault and days later the BT engineer came and explained the previous one was a contractor and not licensed to work underground so just swapped the lines to tick the box and get paid ffs. Talk about wasting money.
Not disagreeing with that . The contractors performance will look great to the stat men . The fact he took your line and swapped it out to give the other person service will never even register . Also it would take the openreach engineer longer to give you service as he will have to find the actual fault on the line . End result to the stat men ? Contractors perform better than openreach engineers …….
Wow. That’s why contractors are a bad idea, don’t give a ****, get paid for ticking a box, no recourse. Ive always found direct engineers take great pride in doing the job right.
Depends on industry of course mate. In a network related industry a contractor can put a band aid on an issue and say he’s cracked it, it’s too easily manipulated. I had a duff Q box, we aren’t allowed to let them know we are staff as it’s seen as manipulation on service scores. She recabled the whole house as I mentioned the cable being grey instead of white bugged me, replaced box without even testing it, and even hoovered and took her rubbish out.
Ah I thought they’d closed that place down. Now there’s a company that needs to fetch the jobs back to the UK if ever I knew one.
They have well there are a few techs left up stairs who are field based and few people who are agile workers who pop in now and again but downstairs closed. We are making use of the room to prepare all of the machines to ship out to the other sites for the Windows 10 Upgrade then be assisting with the roll out as well.
They are going to be losing more workers overseas I have a friend who works for them but via Sitel. He said they are trying to get people to go over to India to train up a new site there as I presume Sitel are going towards fully moving operations over to India. That's the sales call centre staff, so wonder if the sales will go up or not

We have fibre to the house thanks to it being a new build. Speed is stupidly fast even with 3 ps4's gaming online and an ipad on you tube. Probably being ripped off price wise, but it's worth it for the peace lol
You’ll pay a premium for 2 years then when it opens up to other suppliers you can get a deal. Shortsighted by BT, charge people £40 plus so they are looking to leave, then as soon as they can they get it £27 from Sky. The mind boggles who does their marketing and planning.
Government decided to implement fibre to the home Australia wide a few years ago. Then decided that they didn't have enough money so changed it to fibre to the node (then existing copper). We were one of the first areas in Aus to get it so were fortunate to get to the home. A far cry from listening to the 28.8k modem dial in
Where my first ever house was I had fibre to the house was one of the first in area to get it... moved a month later and went back to dial up gutted
