Best we've ever had, or are likely to.

Who, Koeman? He has a bit of a mixed record, I suppose. He was a top manager for us though.

Also, he was a ****ing legend as a player. That doesn't guarantee success as a coach, of course. But it does help raise the profile of the club. I absolutely loved having him as our manager.

I have to say, I couldn’t disagree more. Not even the top of the last ten years.

In fact, thinking RK is a better manager than Poch to me is quite mind blowing.

I think RK was better than average but I'd expect Ralph could be better long term. As others have said he didn't have it quite so easy, but Ralph hasn't helped himself and is part of the reason we have fewer than expected points.

many other clubs would have sacked him already this season, so maybe the club at the top reserve a teeny bit of credit.

Perhaps they do, but perhaps they realise that having to sack 4 managers in as many seasons might mean there is something else going wrong...

I’d be happy with a draw.

Possibly, but I’d also think that if this season carries on as it is, they may be looking for a 5th one also.

I’d imagine they want stability and that they realise we have a manager who could be really good and if given time and money it could work. There are a few ifs and buts here though Childs and my main point with all this lately is to point out that not many want Ralph gone, want him to have time BUT that he is also responsible for this predicament.

    The table doesn't lie mate.

    8th for Poch
7th and 6th for RK, European football and our highest ever points total. Scoring +4 goals in multiple games, and going into a game knowing you're going to be within a real chance of winning?

I just remember the wonderment of players being attracted to him, and signing for us. Forgetting just how difficult and problematic that can be. Lovely.

Maybe Koeman was a lucky manager, for us. I would never pour scorn on good fortune.

Cuco Martina's goal. I knew the second it left his boot, it was curling in. ****, how we all needed that moment, at that time; Koeman as much as anyone. If that was luck - or providence - can we have some more, please?

So the ability of a manager is solely down to their league position. Okay. That’s not simplistic at all.

I doubt there’s a club in world football that would prefer Koeman as their manager over Pochettino. You’d best tell them.

<laugh> Yeah, we know how much you rate Pochettino mate. You might have mentioned it in the past. That doesn't mean no other manager has ever been any good.

Adkins was better than any of em anyway

I think it is all about timing and good fits.

Adkins was a good fit and came at the right time.

Poch was a good fit, but left early so we'll never know what would have been (though in fairness I think we know we would have been good)

Koeman was a good fit at the right time.

Take Eddie Howe for example - done a great job at Bompey, but was mediocre at Burnley. I also think that he won't do half as well anywhere else as he and Bompey are a perfect fit.

I'll say what I say every time this comes up:

    - Poch is the better manager.

    - Ron did a better job here.

Think the vast majority of people would agree with those two statements.

Not sure i buy the lucky argument though, you could apply that to most managers - was Poch lucky that Kane landed in his lap at Spurs for example, or Klopp lucky that TAA has come through the academy etc.
