    Seem bonkers now but remember watching Barca v Valencia at the Nou Camp with Barca needing the win to finish 4th in the league and qualify for the Champ League.

    Rivaldo put in one of the best individual performances I’d seen as a young man in his very early twenties as he scored twice with Valencia scoring two of their own.

    Last minute, think it was De Boer who chips the ball up to Rivaldo with his back to goal about 20 yds out.

    Rivaldo chests it and fires an overhead kick past the Valencia keeper.

    For me at the time, it was orgasmic and will probably stick with me to my dying days, brilliant game and drama.

    Ps maradonna’s goal (the run against Nigel in 86) wasn’t that good. The defending was the worst I’ve seen in pro football.

    See this is where I think occasion comes into it. I've seen Brian L/Gazza do similar for Rangers for example but World Cup Quarters, all eyes on it etc, makes it a better goal. b

    Same with Alberto vs Italy. There's been far better team goals. WIlshere vs a ****e Norwich for example but World Cup final/arguably the best team ever...it all adds to the goal.
