Ten days ago after a routine eye test , I was diagnosed with a very mild short sightedness and prescribed some very low prescription glasses for driving, watching TV etc . I have been wearing for 9 days now and just have constant headaches while I do . I have contacted spec savers 3 times now, and been told 3 different things by different people - from its normal , to it definitely shouldn’t happen . Internet as usual is full of helpful contradictory advice , and unfortunately most my family and mates don’t wear them . Any help on here? Will it settle down ? Am I dying? I have read that it can be as simple as the frames are too heavy for my weird head shape , anybody had a similar issue with a solution?

I've never had it myself, but I know a few who have had lazer eye surgery and with great results.

My eyesight apparently is pretty good, these are to just sharpen things up a bit . Pissing me off at minute tho , not worth the headaches . Rather things be slightly blurry

Have they put the correct lenses in?

Does happen where people get the wrong lenses put in

I also try and go for light frames / wide nose bridge thing to take pressure of sinus

    Or your dying ...

Going to pop in so they can check the lense, I think so tho cos it definitely sharpened up the long range sight . Just pisses me off that everybody at specs says different , tried to speak to the actual optician but the guard dogs won’t put me through despite me explaining they all seem to be guessing

Headaches with new lenses are quite common especially if the original eye test didn't quite get your magnification spot on. It sounds like sever eye strain caused by your brain trying to adjust to your new lenses. Many people including myself get it for a few days every time new lenses are prescribed but it usually settles down after a week especially after prolonged use. If your worried or headache won’t abate go back to Opticians and ask another eye test for reasons your giving.

    Good luck and merry Christmas.

    How bad are your eyes?
Are you sure you saw an optician?
Lots of shops look similar, whilst usually quite helpful, charity shop workers, butchers, greengrocers and the like are not qualified in giving advice on issues involving eyes.
Regarding the headaches, do you stand in front of a dart board?
    Is your hat too tight?
    Have you been drinking heavily?

Hope this helps... I’ll keep an eye to the RIP thread .
Good luck and merry Christmas (hope you make it) :emoticon-0107-sweat

Maybe you just need some different ones.

    I would definitely recommend these

Had that problem a while ago when I switched to varifocals as it took some adjusting to moving your head so you looked through the right section. Could be similar problem. I would give it two or three weeks then if it still persists go see them.

As long as you go to a reputable firm that will tell you if you are not suitable for the treatment as many aren’t.

Thanks for most the helpful comments <laugh> I’ll give it bit longer as I didn’t really wear them much for first few days so only worn them 3-4 days really , patience isn’t my forte and get frustrated when things don’t improve straight away ..

New glasses can be awful for days. If you ever get two pairs on one of the regular deals you'll always find one is better to wear and see through than the other. It's mad.

Keep your eyes open for other symptoms e.g. wrist sprains or hairy palms.
Should they appear, the solution is obviously in your own hands.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Its probably psychological too. Your brain, used to seeing you without specs is saying 'what the **** are these things' and b) 'if we have to wear them, why the hell did you choose these purple ones" and its giving you a headache so that it doesn't see you in them.

Good luck with it though, I tried multifocal contacts and was all over the place and had to go back to plan A...

Got a new problem now, I can’t have the light on in my front Room . When I have my specs on I somehow can just see rays of light all over like I’m at a **** disco . I have decided I hate glasses and taken them off

You definitely need to use a better optician, DJ.

Have you tried eating more Carrots? Carrots are good for your eyes.

I have a plan DJ.... if you're going to the game on Saturday, at some point you will be thinking or saying 'you need ****** glasses ref'... as its the season of giving and goodwill, when this happens run on the pitch and offer him the pair that you were contemplating trashing.
