Off Topic Politics Thread

I've asked for that list of things to do, not holding my breath. Getting an answer that goes beyond generalisations and platitudes would be a first.

 

What's the definition of insanity again? In all seriousness this is a very one sided forum, there are a few on here who are more in the middle and seem a bit more open about the whole thing.I am neither one way or the other and really have zero interest in politics. I fully get that something has happened that most neither wanted or agree with (and to be honest I can't say I wanted Brexit or a tory goverment either, in fact i voted Lib dem as a tactical vote) it's done and dusted and to carry on with the same line of conversation that you have been having for the last 3 years seems a little sad to me. All I'm saying is Do you know it's Christmas time at all.

 

Sorry but I don't believe this result was caused by racial issues. Lies, stupidity, ignorance, greed and a lack of trust in Labour were the key factors. The Tories using the media to spread lies and a very effective smear campaign was enough to convince the electorate to abandon Labour.

The biggest lie of all is this continual Tory narrative that the people of this country will be far better off outside the EU. That was the key issue driving this election. A huge number of people have fallen for it and they will soon get to see how much better their lives are when it happens.

This election was won by the financial and political elite of this country. Not by them playing the race card. It was won by them promising to make things in this country better. They have no intention of doing that and anyone who believes it is mental.

 

Johnson will deal with the SNP in an attritional manner, and will try to wear them down by giving them nothing. Looking at his first few days in office, Johnson does not, or daré not compromise, for fear of being weak in front of his blood-thirsty Rottweilers.

For what it is worth, Johnson seems to me a very weak leader, uninspiring, unable to see an alternative point of view, and a bit of a bully. Come back May, all is forgiven!!

 

That was a good plan, come into the politics thread to tell us all to stop talking about politics.

How about...no? I've enjoyed having a forum to talk about politics, especially one where it mostly remains civil.

It is heavily remainer biased, but Ides etc. has been standing up for leave without getting abuse. We all genuinely did try and listen to his points as well. But as a fair few of us feel like the country is making a huge mistake, we are entitled to talk about it with similar minded people.

 

Hey take a step back buddy..............It is clear we have different opinions. I do understand that this will affect people in different ways. Slagging people off on here is not going to help. You do not even know me in the slightest. I have never gone round "patting anyone on the head" I am not saying you should not protest or or campaign. Non of us actually have a clue what is going to happen. All you know it alls tell us it is going fail its a disaster. Ok you may be right. Doing things to make it fail is not the right thing surely? Arguing your side is one thing classifying people who did not vote your way is another.........

All true mate but some do get carried away..........I will fight for anyones right to an opinion and express it....but some personalise their differences that is not right. We all know this will affect a lot of people differently. Sadly the tories have got the margin they craved for. What happens now is anyones guess.

I could understand your position if you just read the comments, smiled to yourself and thought 'how pointless' but to keep posting it is nothing more than an irritating wind up, which I would guess is what you intend.

 

I've seen it argued that politics itself is just pointless, and a way to keep the masses occupied. Like WWF wrestling for adults.

"people like you" is that not slagging me off there are other instances but its not worth arguing with you. I fully understand what can happen and what may not happen. I do not go around saying what you should or shouldn't do. I express an opinion its just that an opinion. My view is we have to get on with what we've got..........but not purposely do anything to sabotage the process because you don't agree with it . Whatever that may be that's all. Don't look for more because they're aint anything............Just have a coffee mate I'm not your enemy.........promise..........

Actually, this whole bit with me started because you did exactly that. You said we need to get on with it and not be the ones to make it fail.

That p1ssed me off and came across as hugely patronising and I stand by my “people
Like you” comment based on that. If you hadn’t been so sweeping in your dismissal of our feelings, we wouldn’t be here at this point now. You then conveniently chose to ignore the questions back at you.

Edit: and I still can’t believe you again mention purposely trying to make it fail or sabotage it. Who the **** is doing that on here by discussing or complaining about it. Sounds like you’re suggesting we are.

 

The idea likes of FLT, me or anyone else on here that disagrees with brexit and the tories are able to sabotage the process is a bit difficult for me to grasp. Please feel free to explain so we can plain our urban guerilla strategy.
