Ok so this is an idea I've stolen from elsewhere but certainly allows for some thought and debate. Let's get everyone's views on their "Team of the Decade". This a player to have made an appearance for us between 1st January 2010 until now. Hopefully simple enough so get thinking people. Mine is below: GK: Stuart Nelson RB: Barry Fuller CB: John Egan CB: Adam Barrett LB: Bradley Garmston (pre-injury issues) RM: Chris Whelpdale CM: Jack Payne LM: Jordan Obita CAM: Bradley Dack ST: Tom Eaves ST: Cody McDonald
Well - just for that, you're not getting a Christmas present from me this year.......... it could have been a much worse Mc Cammon
Does appear in my haste that I only submitted 10 players so Dacky is now on the list. With regards to Gazzaniga, he wasn't as consistent enough for as Nelson was nor did he finish in League 2 Team of the season like Nels did in our championship winning year.
No Simon King mate? and we all know Cody is useless without Akinfenwa I think having Dack, Cody and Eaves in the same team, would be a problem with them tripping over one another. also did you forget what was his name....erm.....let me think now......Joe Martin not so injury prone either from memory I would defo have Gazza as keeper and no side cannot have our very own pitbull, Charlie Lee, yeah he will probably be suspended more than he plays, but he'd be great for the big cup ties. Quite interesting really, but I'm rubbish as team formations and positions, not that anyone ever noticed <cough>
would it be unkind to start a thread - naming the ' Donkey team of the decade ? ' ---- with so many to choose, it might have to be a squad rather than confine it to 11
Kingy suffered his injury in the preseason of 2009/10 season and only made a handful of appearances in 2011 before leaving so despite how much I loved him for us, he doesn't make my team of the decade due to it the rules stating 1st January 2010 onwards. I shall ignore the comments regarding Cody.... Surprised nobody has argued about the LM role as I picked someone who only played 6 times for us
I think it's a difficult one to argue against, unless we were choosing long term favourites, but on strength, pace and ability, you don't see much like the likes of him at our level, in that position. I think we were lucky to obtain his services for those six games.
