Seeing The Sweet on TOTP doing Blockbuster is one of the first musical highlights of my life, however glam wise, whilst I like Bolan and Bowie, and some early 70s Slade, my preference when it comes to 70s music prior to 1976, would be for The Faces, Humble Pie and Thin Lizzy.

Back in the day when every school kid watched TOTP and talked about it in the play ground the next day, appearances by and reactions to Bowie (Starman), Sweet (Block Buster!), Suzi Quatro (all of 'em) and Sparks (This Town...) stand out......"Did you ****ing see that last night?"

My kids don't have that and their lives are poorer for it, in my view. Have some Suzi....

On the Glam Rock front, the rather wonderful Cavern in Raynes Park are hosting this lot in the New Year...

I'm there for Punky Reggae Party a couple of weeks later (31 Jan) but I'd love to see these guys, although you can keep Mud and their tiger feet.

My first view of Bowie was...."what the hell is that?".....then it descended to Gary Glitter. Very different to Buddy Holly!

I went to see Alice Cooper after seeing him on TOTP and the warm up act was Roxy Music they got booed off that night, wonder what became of them
Another first impression was Hawkwind, the sight of the magnificent Stacia dancing naked to Silvermachine stuck with me for a few years
Years later a friend of the good Mrs Conn took us to a gig somewhere off the Calli road and we saw a band dressed as RAF pilots, a couple of Afgan rebels a Shiek and a cossak who later turned out to be Spandau ballet

Last show I went to was at the Windmill to spend an evening with Alf Garnett. It started with him standing there on stage seething as a couple casually walked down the isle to the front. Alf proceeded to give them a piece of his mind, then to give Harold Wilson another piece of his mind. A good evening though.Although someone in the audience called out "bollocks!" To which Alf yelled out " ..and bollocks to you too!" Oh! He did mention a Lady ****enda.A member of the Harold clan.

Warren was a season ticket holder for us, I saw him at a local theatre and he did the same thing with the late comers, must have been part of his shtick
