I read this on the BBC website and thought it interesting. I suppose it’s what we all knew anyway but also highlights the real winners and losers in our ‘first past the post’ election system. The Tories would still have won, with Labour in second, but the Scottish Nazis have more than 4 times the number of seats than the Lib Dem’s but with a third of their percentage of the votes!!
in the past there has been a lot of "talk" of modernising our NHS. At one it was suggested that a system of paying an independent "insurance company" to provide care might be an option like a few other countries around the world operate. However because our NHS is so complex and interdependent within itself it was deemed as not feasible. there is within the NHS a network of "clinic type" places which are independently run but part of and only do NHS ops … EMMERSON GREEN IS ONE … there is 2 or 3 in Somerset and all over the country … my op cost £12k. A longer wait for BRI and Southmead would have cost the same [ or more ] the world ticks over on peeps putting forward ideas … probably 10% or less actually come to fruition … designing a car is not a one man job, one man starts of with a doodle, others then join in … it either works or doesn't or there is compromise …
this is one of the unfair but historical facts of our UK it is the same for NI fewer voters get more representation …
Protests in Bristol today against Boris being PM. Not sure to either laugh at how pathetic these people are or cry that people can't actually give up and move on and accept democracy! Truly pathetic.
Don't really see any issue with demonstrating. They're the types of people who change the world - often they're ahead of their time. People will have demonstrated for women to have the vote back in the day and other people will have mocked them for it. By all means criticise the reasoning, which I agree with, it's daft as ****, but at least they're bothering and making an effort you know. As long as it's peaceful and not like those Extinction Rebellion ones.
They were holding up posters saying Racist Boris. Obviously forgetting Labour have a worse racism issue than the Tories.
I think when Boris gets the NHS sorted there will be a few beds for them.... obviously suffering from delusional hysteria … waiting for the "it was all rigged" brigade next, or they spent 50p to much …. Bristol east MP must have had a big budget we finished up with 6 leaflet drops multiply that times 90,000 = 540,000 leaflets or the equivalent to all the trees in Queens Sq being felled and turned into paper … probably about a weeks worth of carbon output for the whole of Bristol! … save the planet .. must congratulate all the other parties on just 1 leaflet all the info we needed and less than A4 IN SIZE
They really don't. It's just you only hear about one type because most of the papers are Tories. Labour have a massive problem with anti-semitism. Tories have a massive problem with Islamophobia. Not that Labour's is ok. It's absolutely ****ed, but let's not pretend one type of racism is better than another type of racism.
Im certainly not pretending. ALL racism is bad. Unless your welsh of course All I was saying is this lot were protesting against Boris saying he is racist. These people are the ones pretending racism towards Muslims is worst than against Jews because why protest using the racism card?
Yeah if they were Labour voters then you're spot on, they'd be total hypocrites. But I just disagree that Labour have a worse problem than the Tories re: racism, neither are particularly good let's face it.
To be honest there are a bunch of people who simply like to protest - it doesn’t matter what about - they just like a good gathering and a rant about ‘stuff’. I know someone like that - normally he’s a nice guy - we have been to watch local bands together, but he’s so far to the left he makes Corbin look like a nazi SS officer. He protests about everything and argues that taking the country by force is the only way to break the stranglehold that the rich conspirators have over the corrupt electoral system. He’s utterly bonkers - but is very educated and articulate and clearly believes 100% in what he says.
Not me mate - I don’t fit into a box politically - Corbyn was too far left and Boris just a buffoon for me. In my time I voted for all three main parties but the only time I felt really comfortable with my vote was Tony Blair’s ‘New Labour’ - before the Iraq war. Since then I’ve just tried to work out which party I hate the least - and I would never advocate taking over by force (essentially a coup) - I may not like the outcome of an election but I can’t imagine resorting to violence to overturn it.
With me it was just leave and get on with life, hopefully my dream is now fulfilled and the unelected in Brussels can do one.
My Mum and Dad used to go on these marches, friends of the earth and CND. I remind them both as this year after all their bizarre protesting that, my Dad is having radiation therapy, my mum had nuclear medicine flush. My Mum just smirks, but my Dad says don’t be surprised if he holidays in Hinkley Point. People just like to protest, thinking they are doing it for the best but forgetting they had their chance in the voting like all of us but lost. Just move on and enjoy life.
What we agree on - Both parties have problems and neither are particularly good as there shouldn't be any racism from any politician, who are suppose to representing all sorts of race in their constituencies. And for sure and neither type of racism is better than the other We just need to agree to disagree on - I see far more occasions where racism has happened on Labours side than the Tories. Can't remember the numbers but something over 1000 cases of Anti Semitism in the Labour party. There is quite a few too of Anti Muslim on the Tory side, just not as many cases as what's on Labours side. Corbyn has been in denial about it and lied in the build up to the election saying all cases been dealt with but there are hundreds still outstanding. Boris said there was going to be an investigation of it in his party. That was said a while ago yet no signs of it happening. Also those protesters may not be Labour supporters. But I am positive that if Labour had won the election, those same protesters wouldn't have been protesting with the same posters but with Corbyn's name on it. Just my opinion of course
