Good Morning. It's Monday 16th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Cardiff's second half aerial dominance silences ER No sooner had Marcelo Bielsa been awarded the coveted Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for November for five straight victories in November than Leeds consecutive seven game wining run came to an end in the most unlikely of scenario's. Leeds were already cruising thanks to first half strikes from Costa and Bamford, when Bluebirds keeper made a rash challenge on Leeds No 9, seven minutes into the second half. He was running out of pitch when Etheridge had a sudden rush of blood and hurled himself in front of the Leeds hit man. The referee had no option but to point to the spot. Bamford himself sent 34,000 home fans wild as he cooly sent the keeper the wrong way scoring his second of the afternoon and Leeds third of the match. At 3-0 up, the only thought on Leeds minds were how many goals were they going to score. On the hour mark, Cardiff made their aerial superiority count. Casilla could only punch the ball clear from a dangerous cross where two Bluebirds were challenging. The ball landed kindly at Lee Tomlin's feet at the edge of the right hand side of the penalty area. His misjudged cross somehow ended up becoming an amazing lob, and with Casilla still getting back on his feet, it felt Cardiff had a consolation. With eight minutes left, Cardiff once again showed their aerial superiority as Morrison got on the end of a dangerous cross and the big centre back reduced the deficit to one. Four minutes later Cardiff were down to 10 men. Nketiah was attacking down the left wing and Morrison sent the England U21 striker tumbling with a cynical sliding tackle. The inevitable occurred two minutes before time. A delightful flick from Tomlin carved open the Leeds defence and there was substitute Robert Glatzel to silence the Elland Road crowd! Post match press conference The Aftermath Bad day at the office or were Leeds frailties exposed? Can Casilla be blamed for any of the goals? Did Bielsa get the tactics wrong? With 25 shots at goal, how many should Leeds have scored? Do Leeds need to invest in Aerial offence / defence in January?
Morning all. I wasn't getting carried away either way and no different after that fiasco. Well know soon enough if that was just a blip or wheels falling off again. Pity we haven't a mid week game to flush that fiasco out of the system though
I'm sure the players are feeling just as dejected as us. Lets hope a demolition of Fulham puts us back on track. Morning all
Morning Comrades 2.13 points per game as long as we do that in the second half of the season then all will be good, 98 points would do nicely. We could probably do with a little more height in defence when we play the poorer teams in the division, like Cardiff etc. They play a hit and hope for the best type of game. It relies a lot on luck and so I'm not sure how you can plan for pure flukes. We still shouldn't have let a 3 goal lead go and perhaps changing the team did lead to more opportunities for them but then again 3-0 up when else are you going to have the chance to experiment. It didn't work but personally I think it was bad luck and nothing fundamentally wrong.
Good morning. I tend to agree but would be worth studying the goals to see who (apart from Phillips) was at fault and why they went in.
Not sure I see the point. Championship players are always gonna be prone to the odd mistake. Pl players make them too. Kiko has hairy moments as we all well know for example. We have no replacements available on the bench who would improve the team that played the first hour. Partly by his own choice Bielsas options are limited and will be for remainder of season if change is needed so we best hope this lot can carry us through second half of season and try keep their blunders to a minimum
Eric!!! Bad penny? More than that, it runs throughout the club. Won’t pay for players they buy etc. the EFL should move in, fine them and deduct points. E in EFL is the operative word, remove them is my view.
The only point would be if there was a pattern, or something generic going wrong that needs fixing. Bielsa may not need our help here though
Good morning all After being totally dejected saturday evening, i have come to terms with what happened in that game, after all Newcastle and more recently Wolves were not expected to win every game, these things happen to the best of teams,i think last season sheff utd were three up against Villa and were pegged back,or was it around the other way ?, anyhow as long as the team don't take it to heart, and have it running threw their minds about what happened last season. The best cure and what a true promotion candidate will do, is go out & beat Fulham. That would send a message loud & clear Leeds will be taking one of those auto places.
Good morning all We should have gotten Haaland when we had the chance, now it is most likely that he will go to scumchester
I can’t help feeling that the games over the Christmas and New year’s period will decide where we will end up come end of season. And it is making me nervous
Hey Blue from Bellend, sit back and look at the bigger picture Wish them Wallies were as easy to reel in.
