Loads of players like that, don’t think it makes him a legend. You said it though he was a good loyal servant to the club. Not a legend though
Maybe Stewie could put his boots on tomorrow....play on the wing now that McGeady is out on his arse.
Would rather he put his running shoes on with a bag of cash in his hand off the yanks running down the high st to the bank then carry on back to Eastleigh
Next step on the donald destruction debacle is get more high earners off the payroll ( including one who less than a year ago he extended their contract ) and bring in a few el cheapo loans who the current manager will have no idea what to do with because they will chosen by the Beverly HILLbilly ( SD's chronically inept sidekick ). These players will be raw young players used to playing proper football not clueless hoofball as practised by PP. The poor lads will be as out of place as boris at a truth convention. I wont be at all surprised to see o9 sold if an offer comes in. The rest arent worth a jot given it was ross who recruited them and filled their minds with negative football
The realistic option is for him to sell up. I was half hoping that at the board meeting that is supposed to happen in December that he made the initial soundings of selling his shares and moving the club on to the American who is there from this grouping who have "lent" us/Madrox £10m. I think that SD has the impression that this is going to be turned around on a shoe string. It wont be. Murray and Short both found out that a failed or failing SAFC does not get you the money you want. SD is probably about to find that out too. He will have to settle for less than he ultimately wanted to leave is my opinion. Not a ****ing chance that he will get £30m to £50m for a failed SAFC. He might get £10m.
Why would he sell for £10m when he has a loan of someone else's money that he can fund the team with for another few seasons at no major risk?
As I say we have seen this all before with Murray and Short. Ultimately a failed/failing SAFC gets you next to nowt and they basically had to cut and run. I think Murray sold the club for £10m to £15m and goodness knows how much Short lost. SD will not make anything out of a failed or failing SAFC. Ultimately he has no money, the parachute money runs out at the end of the season, and he will then be in a situation that will ultimately bite him on the arse. He will end up selling up for next to nowt. Circumstances will dictate that. SAFC marooned in the third division, with no money, dwindling crowds, and a club of our size to fund will be worth next to nowt. Reality bites next May....
Please stewart do us all a favour and get out out of our club. Along with your marriage the club has failed .
I've tried to find some substance, wit or originality in your posts ... ... but, sadly, you're just another in a long line of identikit creeps who repeat the same infantile drivel until you eventually bore yourself to death. The sooner the better imo.
He doesn't really have to though. He can continue breaking even or making a small loss, using the club's money (parachutes payments previously) or someone else's (FPP loan now) for a while yet. If he can fluke us back to the Championship with that cash, he will potentially be able to write off the debt he owes as part of any deal to buy us. This is the pathway I've spoken of for the last 6 months that I strongly believe has had an impact on our current situation. I think he'll see a potential scenario where someone comes in and says they'll buy SAFC for £40m and allow him to trouser a substantial part of that without paying back what he owes from buying the club.
Back to the Championship, new owners and Donald makes a profit ... ... I'd snap your hands off right now tbh.
Ditto! I don't see ownership changing for at least 12-18 months, but some of it might depend on how we start next season. If this time next year we're in an automatic promotion place, he's going to sense the potential for that profit. If we're as we are now, he might start considering his best route out. Not before though, he's playing with house money.
We've got no money, he wont put any in and the pararchute money runs out next year. SAFC is an ever decreasing circle as he will soon find out. He looks totally ****ed to me and when we do not go up this year, or even if we do, he finds himself with a few buttons and a piece of string to run the club with. Make no mistake about it, a harsh reality is going to dawn on SD, and our fans, very soon. It'll not be pretty.
This is an interesting question. It's much easier to criticise the current situation, than to actually plot a way out of it. I think first of all, he has to hold his hands up and admit that his project has failed, accept responsibility, and be pro-active in attempting to fix it (I realise that this might cost money that he/we don't necessarily have). Phil Parkinson would be sacked. I realise that it's not all down to him, but his record is unacceptable. Jack Ross was sacked for 10 defeats in 75 games and a 50% win rate. Parkinson has lost 7 in 13 and has a 15% win record. It's disastrous, and I can't see how he can recover to be a good manager of this club. Richard Hill and Tony Coton would also be gone. They're the key to the failure of this project on the pitch. Then it gets tough. I think that our decisions need to start with a mission statement and for us to make consistent decisions based on that. We need to define what style of play we want, what type of players/character we want to sign etc. One of the big problems in the Short era was that we changed style and approach so much that we ended up with a squad that wasn't suited to anything. First of all, I would want us to appoint a Director of Football. I wouldn't want Donald anywhere near that. He would oversee our scouting, youth development, sports science etc. He would then choose his manager. Someone he could work with, someone who would adopt his style of play, so that they could compromise on transfers etc. Finding the right manager will be tough. The obvious front runners from last time have gone. I'm going to put my neck on the line here and realise that my whole post will be ignored after I suggest this name, but I'd take a look at Robbie Neilson at Dundee United. He's got his team playing well at the top of the table, just as he did with Hearts a few years back. They were both in a similar position (on a smaller scale) in the sense that they're Premier League teams in the lower leagues. He had a bit of a poor spell at MK Dons in the middle of that, but he'd have learned from his mistakes and his record isn't really much worse than Karl Robinson who was highly praised for this job there. This is probably not what Donald would like to hear, but I think that £10m needs to be injected into the squad in January. Lawrence Shankland wouldn't be a bad signing for Neilson to bring with him. I don't want to name too many players and I wouldn't necessarily want to spend the whole £10m, but I'd like to bring in some good characters with a strong mentality and work ethic. As for players leaving, I'd say pretty much everyone is available. I'd like us to build around Willis, Dobson and O'Nein. I feel like Gooch, Hume and Wyke can contribute. The rest, I can take or leave. If they've a bad attitude, I want them out. If they don't care I want them out, but if they want to work hard for a new man, they'll get a second chance. Finally, I'd ask the fans to be positive inside the stadium, no matter what. At this level we might have a few players who can't cope with the pressure from the fans. That's just where we are, but criticising them for that will not help us to get better results. I'd ask to support, cheer and back the lads for 90 minutes every week inside the ground from now until May and see where we are. I'd be aiming to finish in the playoffs this season and push hard to get up. Every year we stay down here, it gets harder to bounce back. Longer term, I'd be looking to focus on the academy and signing up and coming younger players with sell on value. Realistically, it's our only approach to growing and competing, but perhaps they are the projects that we start in the Championship.
Plain as day that SAFC are an ever decreasing circle. SD has no money, its basically run out, he knows that down the line he has massive issues, so he sells the family silver to bring in ****e and placate the fans as he "brought in new players during the January transfer window". Its a mess. It costs a canny bit of money to run SAFC and he doesnt have it. He's borrowed £10m just for running costs and cant even afford to pay for a hole in the SOL roof, or mend the lifts at the AOL without borrowing to pay for it. It doesnt take much joining of dots too see what the craic is.
