You referenced a media story about someone having money to play bingo earlier, and held it as a proof against the impact of austerity.

You've often provided links to The Daily Mail, The Sun and other media sources on this forum and on another.

I'd rather reference cited academics and checkable evidence - but to each his own.

If we leave it means leaving the customs union was on a leaflet the government posted to every household advising us the best option was to remain in this once in a lifetime referendum. Strangely many people claim they were unaware of that fact.

Anything from a newspaper is checkable. You would rather reference cited academics whose views coincide with yours. You are full of yourself, aren’t you?

Yes, they are checkable and are deemed to be unreliable, bias and usually will not stand up to any form of rigour.

Again, yes I tend to agree with the sources I cite. Hence why I cite them here or wherever. Surely, not even worth mentioning.

He started it, guv, with his condescending, patronising assertions of his views being intellectually superior to others.

If you mean me, I won’t. His ignorance is beyond approach & he’s a boring troll.

Twisting words & reasons does make things less racist.

Did you mean biased, Mr Academic? Certainly the Guardian and Mirror are. Retractions used to be a staple of Guardian reading.

“People wonder how I can read so much and so quickly. It is because I only read the bits that I agree with and which reinforce my own views.”. A Hitler

We differ but I am happy to end it.

    To clarify:

Controversially, I form my beliefs from checkable evidence.

    Let's leave it there then.

I didn’t mean you, Ben, Despite your misplaced admiration of DA I think you are a decent chap I would be happy to have a pint with. Unlike some.

So, only your sources are valid? Not only patronising but pompous.

    Let’s leave it there then.

Mr Academic? ****ing hell. I really seem to have hit a nerve with this. Apologies.

In truth, I largely can't stand The Guardian or The Mirror.

What I do find is that there are writers from papers across the spectrum that can be good. The one's that have integrity - but not many.

I pretty much check whatever I read with references from numerous sources to avoid things like confirmation bias.

I think the DA issue is recognising the difference between criticism & personal racist abuse.

Anybody been to any hustings? Get a feel for the candidates you’ll vote for? A chance to put specific questions to them. A chance to see how they react in person rather than simple sound bites in the press.

This thread has definitely confirmed my opinion about certain posters on here so it's been of some use
