Well to be fair we already have more than twice as many food banks as we have McDonalds, so would you rather we continue down that road?

Chomsky is one of the most cited and prestigious academics alive: writing on philosophy, politics, linguistics, cognitive sciences etc.

Ric - which of his works do you know the most?

Bored at work on a Monday morning got me thinking about this 4 day week idea.

To keep it as simple as possible, if I have a shop, café or takeaway place that is open 12hrs a day and 8 on Sundays that's 80 hours a week. So now I have 2 workers each doing 40 hours.

If my 2 workers only do a 32 hour basic week (should I presume they are going to get the same pay?) I would need to find and pay someone to do the other 16 hours or pay my existing workers time and a half for their extra 8 hours each.

This idea looks like a non starter to me.

It depends on how value or measure such qualities. For me, it comes down to intellect and experience – along with argument. Maybe it doesn’t for you.

I respect academic argument and evidence. I make judgements and form opinions based around this.

If you needed medical intervention, whose medical opinion would you see as ‘more valid or correct’?

A world leader consultant in the field or a 'forklift truck driver on minimum wage' who reads up on medicine, and self medicates in his spare time?

And one whose views coincide with your own. There’s a surprise.

You read what coincides with and reinforces your opinions and validates them.

Yes. Sometimes I agree with experts.

    Great observation.

If the wage doubles, why will the price of a basic item go up tenfold?

They could get jobs in the new more popular food chain - the food bank. Apparently there’s now more food banks than McDonalds.

You know nothing of my thought process, not what I read, consider apart from what I have told you.

Out of interest and not meant as a dig, apart from at school (which is too low a level) have you ever had to engage academically? Write an article, essay , dissertation or the like?

Why do you always ask stupid questions?
Yes and don't forget that instead of paying them £8.21 an hour, you'll be giving them a 22% pay rise!!! Corbyn's pie in the sky hand out promises will close thousands of small businesses.

Food banks & McDonald's aren't specific to a Tory Britain they are both global phenomenons in all societies.

So, you think that someone who, even with the advantage of a fee paying prep school education, managed 2 Grade E A Levels and dropped out of polytechnic after a year is the most qualified to run the country? With a Chancellor who made such a mess of things at the GLC he was sacked by Ken Livingstone of all people?

The country manages to run just fine every weekend, you can eat out no problem, despite it not being a regular working day.

An extra day of the week being a non-working day would be no different to the way it works currently.

Of course, more people would need to be employed in some industries, but how is that a bad thing? There are plenty of people unemployed and looking for work, that is not an issue. Less people unemployed and everyone working shorter hours and having a more fulfilling life as a result can only be a good thing.

Again though, what really baffles me is why you would want to be against this and look for reasons to oppose it. And once again, the more important question is what are the incumbent party offering that beats it?

I think it's absolutely crazy that people are so keen to shout down positive changes being suggested by one party, and then vote for a party offering nothing positive whatsoever.

Just interested in how you form arguments. You don't appear to use much evidence.

    And yes, I have.
