    Question people, around the role of the fourth official, for lower leagues. Remembering we don't have VAR. Yesterday Sunderland scored what seemed at the time a perfectly good goal, the referee seemed to have accepted, and the linesman at no point put up his flag.

    However, the keeper subsequently claimed he was fouled. You can see the incident in the clip below.

    So what changed, the ref and the linesman acceptance of the goal, that the Sunderland players and supporters were celebrating, well I will give you a media comment;

    Steve Evans, in his post match interview, stated that the 4th Official immediately said " No goal - foul on the keeper " - when Sunderland thought they had scored.

    Since when have fourth officials been ruling in lower league games, and is it allowed?

    Edit: Here is an article with the comments; https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/sport/evans-it-was-a-great-way-to-win-a-game-217976/

    They were fuming because they were losing, they’re not used to it these days. The throwing of lighters at the United players near the corner flag (including one that hit Fred) was bad enough, then you get the bigot doing monkey gestures, ****ing clown.
