An excellent performance all round. Any one of Eze, BOS. Leistner or one or two others could have got MOM, but I'd give it to Lumley for the clean sheet. Not that much to do, but he looked assured all afternoon - in contrast to recent games - and make one stunning save towards the end. You R's!
much much better & clean sheet, thought pne was ordinary, we didn’t give them much time on the ball for a change, no weak leaks in the team today but thought Bos was good & cant understand we have not been playing him, Pugh & Cameron had decent games, didn’t play out from the back that much & it helped, happy journey for a while.
Just spent 7.20 euros on a 330ml Strongbow But that’s the casino. 7 euros or so for a 500ml **** local beer in town.
Yep got it on with the boxing undercard on another screen. Half the country is here supporting United.
On way home Solid, careful strong performance. Everyone played well. Formation which we guessed before the game was a very nice.4-1-3-2 Lumley saved a certain goal. Short play out was complimented by long kicks , BFG won everything, Cameron was good in front. Pugh and Hugill worked hard. BOS was big, strong and went passed their backs Eze was a class above everyone...and Preston didn't know who to double up on ...him or BOS. Excellent team performance wonderful proficient performance. Very happy
Very happy birthday, Peter: We won, Scum lost, Ruperts lost and Bentford lost. Could it be any better?
Leistner was immense today and snuffed out much of the quick, speculative forward passes that Preston base their game around. Quite why he can look so ordinary and vulnerable in other games remains a mystery although a clue must surely be in Cameron's presence. While Cameron's personal performance was probably only average he could be seen organising and cajoling the back four throughout. Osayi-Samuel was also very effective and his energy and threat undoubtedly gives Eze more time to do his thing, Warburton must surely now see that he has to start him as often as possible. Finally a word of praise for Pugh who is never going to be an elegant or clever player but whose never ending running and closing down made our high press work well for the full 90 minutes for the first time in many games. Quite unlike Scowen who, yet again, came on as a sub, got booked, and as a result became a passenger.
I had the strangest dream that we won to nil. Having woken, I can't help but to think that it was real. The only viable conclusion is that Leonardo di Caprio and the kid from Third Rock from the Sun have done something baffling and incomprehensible to my subconscious. Here's hoping they do more of the same next week!
Sounds like we ground out a good result with a real team performance. We were desperate for a win and now we have it. Let’s push on and build that confidence again. We have a team capable, so let’s drive forward through Christmas and New Year now. Well done lads. You did well! C’mon you Rrrrrrrrssss!!
