Rickie's record for Saints is approximately 20/20 (can't get that confirmed but it was 15/15 in December 2010 which was the only confirmed stat I could find and I know he's scored at least 4 since then... Beatts was pretty much spot on as well and obviously we all know Le Tissier's record. Out of the 3 though who do we think is best? Le Tiss never missed the target but many were saveable, Lambert can hit all 4 corners and Beatts seemed to nail the top corners everytime including some pressure ones vs some big premier league teams. I'm sure everyone will go with Le Tiss for the record but I'm not sure I've seen better than Rickie!
It went in, but his penalty on Saturday hit the post..could have bounced out. Hope in future he places it more securely.
For that reason, didn't count as a shot on target. He didn't hit it cleanly, came off the heel. Thought he had missed it to start with.
Sorry to blot the record .......Le Tiss 's record is not 100 % either. It is 99%...........He had one shot saved
Yes, horrible moment from the other end of the pitch. It was only when I saw everyone else cheering that I knew I could go nuts as well.
Going back further, I believe David Peach's penalty record was unblemished with Saints. Can't recall how many pens he scored though.
Sorry to be pedantic SaintJoey, but it wasn't Beasant who saved his penalty, it was Mark Crossley (or Mark "Fat Boy" Crossley as Match magazine used to call him).
We've had some real crackers for penalty taking. I'm struggling to think who has missed one. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Beatts has never missed a penalty in competition, so he must be up around the 30 to 40 mark by now. Rickie hasn't for Saints, and if the data is correct, then he hasn't missed one in his career so far, either. As CBK says, Peachy didn't miss one. In fact, the only one I absolutely know who's missed is Matty..!
Jim Magilton (who's now been sacked from Ipswich if you didn't know) had a pretty good penalty kick on him as well. In another team without MLT he'd have been first choice taker.
