Oh Danny Boy. We are loving him, right?! 7 points from 3 games and Saints are starting to really believe again. It’s important to beat the teams around us and whilst there are still some vulnerabilities the results show a new found resilience and a winning mentality. RH was given an assurance that his job was safe (after the rugby scoreline) and it’s proved a good decision and one that I would imagine most are happy about. Particularly pleasing with Danny Ings playing so well and his goals and just his general demeanour are infectious and absolutely crucial. Great to have a new hero banging in goals for fun. There's nothing better than having a striker on top form and its gets the whole team going as well as the fans. Some other good performances too Shane Long got a standing ovation for his efforts. The Magpies are doing better than many expected and did well at Bramall Lane so fair play to Steve Bruce (who actually started as an apprentice at Southampton) but we are in the mood for smashing teams that are nicknamed after feathered birds and I see no reason not to go forward with confidence. jonny ‘hasen’ shuttle prediction: 1-1 More to follow...
As well as a couple more goals from Danny I would love to see Shane get at least one, he really deserves to score after the shift he put in against Norwich. Che Adams to come on and score too. Oh, and a goal from open play for JWP would be splendid.
This game is going to be very difficult to call. I'd go with the high intensity press again, but bring in Yan, Maya & Oriol to freshen up & get energy levels near to maximum. But all Toon are going to do is hit balls over the top for 90 mins, so this will inevitably come down to concentration. Those long balls could well negate our tactics, so hopefully we are working on plan B already...............rather than waiting to go a goal down before considering the options. A few of their players took knocks last night, lets hope they are all terminal. (on a side note, if Almiron scores, I say we hand over the deeds to Cedric and start a new club specialising in Netball Chess)
Feeling a bit more confident at last. I thought we were actually worse against Everton than Leicester despite the scoreline. Wolves away was meh, Arsenal was decent, Watford was lucky but Norwich was top drawer albeit against poor opposition. It could go either way Sunday but I'm hopeful of at least a point to continue the unbeaten run. I'm interested to see why Valery wasn't in the midweek squad but would otherwise keep the same team until Armstrong is fit again. Would like to see something from Che too at some point in the game.
I think that Ralph will be tempted not to change but I would like to see Yan start. Jack has earned another start alongside Bedders and it might pay off keeping the same partnership for a while and Shane and Danny work well together and it doesn't matter if Shane doesn't score many as long as Danny and others cash in from his spadework. The team have to start with the same tempo and intesity which will be tough for two games in a week but we simply can't sit back and wait for an error at the back.
Love the MLT goal clip posted at the top. My favourite bit is actually Br@nf**t telling the sub (who was ready to replace MLT) to 'sit down'.
Amongst a lot of peoples favorit that goal. But the man himself never had it up there, due to the scuffed nature of the finish. Me, I think its perfect!

Usually when a team is on a good run confidence is high and fans expect a result, but I'm a Saints fan with all that involves...so 3 good results indicates that a loss is on its way However, Saints fans are also nutters and/or drunk...so I'm going for a 4-0 win to Saints.
He loved playing against the Geordies, this was the match when Des "ding dong" Lynam knowingly said on MOTD, "Le Tiss takes the.. *pause.. shine off of Dalglish's first match"...
AberdeenSaint Junior is in South Shields next week so is going to the game If you see someone being ejected from the home support after Dings completes his hattrick, that`ll be him !
I'm going to this so we definitely won't win. Probably a one nil defeat with 17 goals disallowed by VAR. Looking forward to it though being my first match since the derby. UTFS n all that.
Read some very confident Magpie fans suggested they should rest players for our game as its an easy game for them to win ahead of the hectic Xmas period Let's hope their players are that over confident and take us for granted
They are a fickle bunch. Playing the ghastliest football of a generation, but grinding points, they are now happy with Mikes regime. He should mortgage the club and sell the naming rights while they are all gushing about 3 pts against Sheffield Utd. I'm personally looking forward to the wheels falling off in the coming months. Best fans in the world...........when they are winning,
I’d take a point here. We’ve dragged ourselves into the race, a win would really strengthen our position going into the winter period.
