Has anyone considered the situation if the EFL were not to grant the new owners the takeover; would that mean that Roland had not left the building, and would, therefore remain in charge?
The EFL were quite happy with the Oystons, SISU and that prat Steve Dale. Not to mention Cellino, Bassini and God knows who else. If they dare to block this take-over on some jobsworth technicality there will have to be trouble. Still, I wouldn't put it past them. It is a tiny nagging worry. It's like waiting for a VAR decision, only about 50 million times more important. The twats ought to pull their fingers out and give it the nod.
Amazing stat. Our new owner (good morning Sir) is worth more than the combined wealth of the Big Six Premier League owners. I’m starting to allow myself to get excited. January will be very interesting.
RD was (is) very wealthy, but he was not keen on spending money. Just because we now have new owners (almost) does not mean they will be prepared to make large sums available; although l grant you, they have already mentioned that money will be made available, whatever that means,,,,,,,?? Where did you get the stat regarding the combined wealth?
I don't want to see Charlton Athletic going down the route of Chelsea & Manchester City. A billionaire's plaything changed beyond all recognition, and just buying promotion and trophies. But I have no problem at all with CAFC becoming one of the three or four best budget Clubs in this league, rather than the poorest. As long as we don't stray too far outside the spirit of FFP it's all good. And after 115 years, not before time. We're f*cking rich, we're f*cking rich...
how's everyone else feeling about the efl fit and proper test actually going through? i've had niggling doubts that it might fall through; knowing our luck...
99.9% sure it will be OK. These guys are richer than God, and I've heard nothing about possible dodginess. The most likely reason for a hold up might be some niggling technical point that takes a few extra days to sort out. Hopefully by the time we next play at home (Tuesday evening December 10th against Huddersfield I think) it will all be approved
Oooo that's good, I did not know we were playing then. Hopefully we'll have been overtaken officially then and I can meet Mr ban Gerwen to give him his Christmas card.
I knew about this mob last year but was sworn to secrecy by my man on the inside who is ITK. And all that...
I'm not worried about the EFL fit and proper test, I'm more worried that RD will ask for another £10m at the eleventh hour.
Apparently the Arab guy who is going to be on the Board has made it known that he will not be putting any of his own money in to the Club. I guess that lowers our monetary limits by some distance?
people are getting a mighty erection on the back of this takeover and rightly so but its still not really clear where the money is coming from. I just hope we don't end up with boy milk all over our faces
