He has returned to the KOM after four and a half years as he has made his point that out means out. You really couldn’t make it up.
Many Boro fans were claiming the actual attendance was nowhere near that reported, suggesting around 13000. There was a big debate whether the difference was due to season ticket holders not attending, but are included ( surely 5000 faithful ticket holders missing is unlikely) or whether they just lie about the actual attendance. It's unbelievable how much stick Gibson is getting. He must be the dream chairman everyone wants
...and he's true to his word, he always said they'd go. Didn't the interviewer think of asking about the 24 hours?
I posted it on here once before about a bunch of Boro fans doing a building job round here some years ago who used to go in my local when Boro were signing big names and having two Wembley appearances. They were surprisingly unsupportive of Gibson and very cynical about him and whose money was being splashed out. They reckoned he was good at getting other people to invest without risking his own money. Don’t know if they were right as he seems a decent chairman to me. I did tell them we would be more than happy to have a chairman like him. I still would be.
I have felt more positive about my club both on and off the field in the last 4 weeks than for several years. If I try to analyse AA interview it's pretty much gibberish and I am inclined to ignore his rant as pretty irrelevant. I admit this might be because I can't bear a return to the negativity and division. I hope those thinking of returning can also just rise above him.
It's strange how things have changed, when I first started going to City chairmen used to under-declare attendances so as to appear to make less money for tax purposes. Of cause back then it was all cash payments, whereas now it is more or less card payment, which I guess makes it harder to hide.
I genuinely reckon Ehab is thinking that the old Codger wont be around for much longer and as soon as he does pop his clogs they can get back to business. It really wouldn't surprise me if Ehab was in charge for a long time to come and the recent charm offensive continues after Papa goes.
Exactly But they have changed a lot of things that were keeping people away And thats as good as it gets.
The rantings of a deluded old man. To be honest, he's too set in his ways to admit any mistakes and will stubbornly insist that he is the one who is right. As some have said, this just feels like water off a duck's back as it is what we expect him to come out and say. The club appears to be making genuine attempts to reengage with fans again and there's a feel good factor coming through on the playing side. We shouldn't use his stubbornness as a reason to get despondent with the club again as he won't change his mind regardless (no one tells him how to run his business). It's been enjoyable following City these last 6 weeks and we have the pleasure to watch one of the best players in the division in our own team. However, today really does have a worrying hint of 'Typical City' about it
Ironically, I’m told that it was Assem who was responsible for the change in the ticketing policy and the drive to get fans back in the ground. Then he comes out with pile of steaming excrement.
