Most teams buy players who they can believe add something to the team. They're competing for other teams for quality. Ipswich have literally bought a team full of players who either no one wants in the top flight (or even the Championship), or who are either too old and past it. They've bought all the players who other teams have essentially been desperate to get rid of.
