    Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa is his "Heineken" midfielder. The France international is set to make his first start in almost a year having been out with injury, in Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Nottingham Forest. "He's a player that can reach heights that other players can't reach - that Heineken player if you like," Pardew told the Daily Mirror.

    Think Pardew was on a few when he said this. :D

    Looking forward to him linking up with Cabaye and Tiote for the first time!!!

    Clearly Pards is reaching out for some sponsorship deals to boost his salary. Look for Tiote to be described as the Duracell Bunny anytime now.

    I thought this immediately too, he just got the wrong lager! Maybe he'd had a few too many Heinekens when he did the interview!

    Pardew is referring to an old Heineken advert. I suspect it might be before your time.

    I think the slogan was something like 'Heineken, refreshes the parts other beers can't reach'

    oh god - that Heineken ad isn't that old is it????? stop making me feel old by not knowing about it!

    As for Perch - Canestan or Vagisil? crops up every now and again and is a bit annoying?

    "He's a character," Pardew said in the Daily Mail. "He's not going to be smooth running.

    "I won't say he's high maintenance but he's not low maintenance and we're going to have our moments with him.

    "I'm sure he's going to fall out with me and my staff and my players and we will with him, but along that line we're hoping to get some great performances and a lot of goals from him."
