Yet again, you fail to explain yourself and attempt to belittle and deflect. It's a trait of yours that everyone has grown accustomed to by now.
Still not sure who I am going to vote for, but absolutely sure who I am not lending my vote too. I want someone who will try and unite this country at a time when uncertainty flourishes. The Labour Party are trying to disunite the country with their pledge of for the many not the few. Where do you draw the line with that statement? Is it a Doctor on £120k/year, a TV news reader on £250k/year, a self employed tradesperson, working 12-hr days, on £85k/ year, or a maybe a celebrity on £5-million/year. People who have worked their way up from humble backgrounds, are they classed as the few because they have money? I think that most of the people of the UK believe in fairness and so a better way of collecting the taxes for services we all may need is laudable. Attempting to create an ‘us and them’ scenario is despicable.
Anyway, whilst countries bicker and extremists create divides, the world burns. Parts of Russia, Canada, Asia, Australia and South America are on fire and the Amazon forests decimated. India and Pakistan leaders are at each other’s throats, whilst their counties are rotten with pollution. China, the major polluter, continues to export single use plastic around the world and in this country import much of it. We are still able to buy plastic lighters that end up in the ocean, poisoning the sea bird populations when they think of them as food to feed their chicks. This was highlighted 20-years ago, yet still the lighters are available. EVERY piece of plastic that enters the sea has the potential to kill, to choke or poison the sea life and to eventually enter the food chain. The ice is melting at an unprecedented rate, far beyond what the scientists predicted. The leaders of this world are akin to Nero playing the flute, whilst Rome burnt. Each and everyone of them should hang their heads in shame, as the catastrophe that is heading our way may destroy all our ways of life and it may not be fixable. Still, Christmas is coming eh! Plastic glitter is still in abundance, throwaway plastic toys line our shops. We do, I feel, to change our perspective and we do need to unite. Start to look and see the damage that is being done and have the people that we vote into power make real inroads for change. Oh and have billionaires worldwide, pay 100% international tax after their first billion, to fund the cleanup that is required around the world. Jeeze, I’m angry. Watch BBC 1 on Monday 25 Nov @ 8.30 & 9PM and I’ll bet that you will all be, at the very least concerned, possibly angry and maybe very scared for the future.
Of course it’s not just about Brexit, but Corbin hasn’t got a clue where he stands on it! What is his stance, have another vote? Bollocks. He and every other politician should abide by the first vote. If we’d left when we should have, the teething problems would be over. As I said earlier, I’ve never voted Conservative in my life. Johnson has said the NHS wouldn’t be sold off. Perhaps he’s lying the same as all other politicians, but he puts forward a better future in my eyes than the terrorist sympathiser. And don’t tell me to disbelieve what I read. I’ve seen the words come out of his filthy mouth.
Oh we need to increase spending, no doubt about it. We simply haven't got the funds that they're promising. 58 billion promised to the Waspi women now. Are we pulling this out of our backsides? I think it's a stretch to talk about Thatcher's contempt for the working class when it was them bastard unions who she correctly turned on and went to war with. The working class were caught in the crossfire. The national debt is higher, yes. They're now able to up their spending as they've closed the deficit so we can now spend more to invest in our infrastructure.
Yeah but nothing to help battle homelessness, foodbanks. Continue universal credit. Continue move to zero hours contracts and the gig economy. Thatchers "I'm all right Jack" philosophy and the poor are poor through their own fault attitude entrenched.NHS already well on the way to privatisation with 70% of clinical care contracts now with the private sector so a proportion of the spending syphoned off in profits. Much of the estate in PFIs likewise syphoning off profits and reducing the money available for maintenance of in house assets.
I fear that far more NHS spending(and government spending in general) goes in waste than is "syphoned off in profits"
In an attempt to put to one side party politics, something I've believed for many years is that we need an updated version of what used to be the case, where the old NI stamps used to have a pink (iirc) box showing the NHS contribution. Instead, we now have a system where NHS spending comes out of the total NI contributions and each of the major parties attempt to discredit the other's figures which achieves nothing. What I would propose is that prior to every GE each party should be mandated to state exactly what its plans are for the NHS, into accepted categories (with costings) in their manifestos, and how much will be deducted from every taxpayer's income to pay for it, with NHS spending being shown as an item in its own right, rather than 'rolled' into NI. This would mean that party 'a' could propose to collect. for example, £20 per week and party 'b' £30 per week - leaving the electorate to decide how much they wish to contribute and prevent the NHS being a political football. Doing that parties can be held accountable for, not only, their promises but how they've stacked up in audited reality. I will welcome your thoughts, as well as others, on my proposals.
I'm not sure about this. What's wrong with zero hour contracts? You do realise that the majority of people on zero hour contracts choose to be and wouldn't have it any other way because of the freedom it gives them? Would you just tell them to stick it and take it away from them? Universal credit isn't a bad thing at all. The way it was rolled out left a lot to be desired and they've made a mistake making people wait 5 weeks for a payment. The idea behind it is good, there were always going to be teething problems, but it has helped an awful lot of people back into work.
Hypothecation, I think it is called, yes I suspect if tax/ni were directly linked to the NHS and Social Care, it might be easier to increase taxes... but the Treasury fights tooth and nail to stop this ever happening Still I some labour party leaflets to deliver..I wonder what any comments will be
Are you suggesting that Labour politicians would not wish to agree to a cross party consensus on this subject? Please don't attempt to prevaricate by including other budgets in my question, which referred only to the NHS.
I agree that as set up NI was to be for the funding of the welfare state and as such could be ring fenced and government held accountable and should never have been bundled in as just another source of taxation. Whilst the spending proposals of parties would be welcome it also needs detailed proposals on how that money is to be spent as the cold figure of spending needs to be paired with the structure etc to be implemented.
Zero hour contracts have benefits, as you say, for I would have thought for a minority. It is wrong when it is forced on employees as the only way to get a job. I don't believe I said ban them I objected to their growing use where inappropriate. Univeral credit as a concept is good but has been used as a stick to reduce the benefits bill rather than simplifying the benefits system while ensuring those who require help get the appropriate level of support. So as long as Universal Credit is in it's current form I can't support it.
The same old trope once more. It's easy to spout the same line again and again whilst pretending that the double standards of this country in foreign policy don't exist.
I doubt that Bonko is a very brave man, he is a serial liar, rich eton/oxford prat who thinks it is all about him and he has some divine right to rule and imho he will be Thatcher II. In no way do I like Corbyn, I voted leave but Bonko is much worse. So I guess I reckon Comrade Corbyn is the least worst option..policies of re-nationalising natural monopolies of say Rail and Water and building more council houses..is the good!
It's easy because its true. Have I told you the story regarding Jeremy Corbyn, The IRA and my best mates dad?
