Sunderland's David Vaughan made an immediate impression on the red and white army in his first league start for the club.

The midfielder was in superb form during the 4-0 win over Stoke City at the Stadium of Light and dominated safc.com's post-match Star Man poll.

Vaughan, who also impressed on Wearside last season as a Blackpool player, was the clear winner with just over 33% of the vote.

Nicklas Bendtner (14%) finished second, with Sebastian Larsson in third place.

Stephane Sessegnon and Wes Brown are joint-leaders of the overall Star Man standings with two poll wins each so far.

    Star Man Poll Winners
    Liverpool (A): Wes Brown
    Newcastle United (H): Stephane Sessegnon
Brighton and Hove Albion (A): Stephane Sessegnon
    Swansea City (A): John O'Shea
    Chelsea (H): Wes Brown
    Stoke City (H): David Vaughan

    Overall Star Man wins:
    1. Stephane Sessegnon (2)
    = Wes Brown (2)
    3. John O'Shea (1)
    = David Vaughan (1)

He has to make his own mind up,

    What is your problem?

You call me clueless when I suggest leaving Cattermole out (look how that turned out....)

You call me a school kid for posting a thread, about the star man vote and if Bruce takes it into account - and why wouldnt he, it is an outside opinion, and they can be useful even if it only account for 1% of his decision making.

If you keep insulting people for no reason, maybe the question about who is a school kid should be turned around...

I didn't even realise you were the same fella, but you said leave cattermole out for colback (another mind-blowing performance by him when he came on btw) and I'm just saying a poll on safc.com shouldn't sway bruces thourghts, and if it did I'd be worried, I just Thourght your question was abit stupid that's all, others might agree, but that's what it's all about right. No hard feelings, just a crack.

I saw the poll, had a random musing about it and put it on the forum. I asked for peoples opinion, and your entitled to give yours, but when you disagree about peoples opinion there is no need to be insulting (imo, there is a big difference about a good crack and a **** insult - but thats just my opinion..).

I take it you dont like Colback? I reckon he is a good young footballer, with an intelligent head on him and will a much better player than cattermole ever could be. I suggested Colback instead of Catts as Bruce seems to like both, and I didnt see him dropping both of them...

now i wonder, can you reply to this without insults or sly digs?

I recall a sly dig aimed at myself by you during the game on Sunday when I commented on Bruce subbing Larson. A tad hypocritical possibly?

Stats like this should only e used if high enough e.g. 90%+

...because 9 out of 10 Black Cats can't be wrong

My dig wasnt sly... it was just a dig - and open and honest one :D

I dont know how many times i have replied to you personally, but big john has managed to insult and have a dig at me on a fair few of his replies to me - he is making a habit of it, and I dont think i am in the habit of insulting or having a go at you?

He may take it into account Dan - our Egyptian "fans" (or rather Elmo's) were voting for him constantly last season - he was winning poll's buy a mile sometimes but none of the voters had attended the games - just watched online and voted for him cos they love him over there...

I agree Vaughan should definitely start next week - as a matter of fact I don't know if I'd make any changes - we won 4-0 so why change things??

It's not sly digs, it's just banter my friend, it's something that you do as an adult with other adults for fun, it's humourous :) take it on the chin and hit me back, but if not, don't get offended, it's just people typing on an Internet forum, don't let it get to you, seriously.

And about colback, I rate his touch, vision and agility on the ball, my only problem, he never uses any of it, maybe a couple times a game he will pass a couple balls, what good is it? Put me in there, I'll do the same job, no problem.
