Just to prove that we may love Nick Drake, but we’re all Neanderthals at heart ...... bought this album when it came out in 1971 and saw them a few times around that time ..... I reckon they invented punk before punk was a genre Talk about loud and heavy ..... I saw them at a small venue somewhere over in the forest (possibly Wimborne) in 71 and my ears nearly bled ....... “Uncle Harry’s Last Freak-out” is their classic live tune ..... “It’s rock and roll man .... and the message is Do It .....”
One of the best produced studio videos ever, and one of my all time favourite bands ..... you just have to love Keith Moon.
Inspired by the popup author/book thread. A song that can still bring a tear to this jaded old face. Not a video feast There are good versions out there by Peter Gabrial and the chaps choir. I prefer the simple beauty of the original.
Nice read on BBC with Wendy & Lisa if, like me, you’re a Prince fan. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50556922
This is probably one of the finest records I own. Originally written and performed by Tim Buckley. Performed here by Elizabeth Fraser. What an incredible voice .....
Released this day in 1971 and, reportedly, recorded in 2 days to keep the “live” feeling, this album remains a classic (though, imo, not quite as good as his first one!) Rory Gallagher - Deuce
Wondering if this post shouldn’t be on the Politics thread ..... Still as relevant now as it was then ..... particularly from our national broadcaster ......
Still so fresh after all these years. I saw them do it at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park on 2nd November 1971, the night before my 18th birthday. Just like on that video, Moon couldn’t wait to get his headphones he had to wear for the backing track off! Happy memories, thanks for posting!
How to put the fun into Rock and Roll. Never really given the credit for what brilliant musicians they are, but secretly most of us love them .....
