The customary to Mr Lardiman for taking the time and trouble. You will go to heaven Sir. This Combined Counties Division One game was played in absolutely awful conditions, fortunately there had been no overnight rain as this could have been postponed. The 40'ish enthusiasts were treated to a lively encounter which saw Spelthorne run out easy winners, 3-1 should have been 5 or 6. A rather basic ground but a 'stand' next to the clubhouse made this visit worthwhile. Concessionary admission £4 Programme £1 2 Pints £6.80 Total outlay of £11.80
Elfs, did you take the weekend off on 16th/17th November? I have no piccies for those dates... Here's the latest batch though; Bexhill United vs Arundel FC Saturday 23rd November (presumably, date not on programme cover) 3pm ... Part 1 Top left hand corner of the stand in pic 1 ... I hope that isn't a couple of rough sleepers
They belonged to the homeless unfortunately. This ground is a public park, a football ground and also a cricket ground.
Non-League hospitality at it's finest. I spoke to the club in the morning to make sure the game was on. Three hours later I wondered into the ground for some pics and ended up speaking to the lady from earlier, she then introduced me to the Chairman and we had a very nice chat before he had to produce the programmes, and I had to sink some lager in a local hovel to watch the mighty Reds against Ivor's mob. Once back in the clubhouse of Bexhill word got round the Elf was in town and the barman/board member said hello, it turned out the dude was palice but he was a top geezer tbf, to the point once he knew I travelled down by train he insisted on giving me a lift immediately after the whistle. Bexhill won 3-1 in an entertaining 2nd half, a basic ground but a must visit if only for the main stand. FULL admission £5 Programme £1 Badge £4 3 lagers £10.50 Total outlay £20.50
“Word got round that Elf’s was in town” I bet the place evacuated quicker than if there was a typhoid epidemic
Blimey. I was only joshing, and in poor taste I'll admit. What this country has come to. My apologies to whoever that was. You can't really see detail in the image, I had assumed those shapes were some stuff just put up in the back of the stand by somebody.
There was not anybody underneath the blankets whilst I was there, probably don't like football, BUT it was painfully obvious that some poor souls were sleeping there.
Here it is at last... Park View vs New Salamis Spartan South Midlands Premier Division ... Saturday 30th November, 3:00pm Crikey, that is an impressive stand. The running track is very old school.
Apologies Elfs, the unknown pooch has been removed. The picture had a file name in sequence with the other ones, so I assumed it was from the batch you sent me for this game. I don't know where he came from.
@Beware of the Virus on a rare serious note, @Miketyson2007Junior and I were talking on the train to a Charlton ground hopper who knocked your efforts into a cocked hat He had done the lot with Charlton home & abroad, and in addition to this supported Dover and seemed to have visited every non league stadium in the country. His knowledge of grounds was incredible...perhaps @Miketyson2007Junior could confirm.
