Baked beans and pasta works incredibly well. I too was sceptical and laughed at my old student flatmate but he was right. He exclusively lived off this meal and uncle bens rice by itself for 3 years, was built like an anorexic Mr Burns but he was correct about the pasta dish
Not fussed on pork cooked this way unless I'm getting really good meat from a quality butcher, supermarket pork shoulder could end up quite tough or chewy cooked that way.
Tonight my dish should look something like this. please log in to view this image Lets see what happens.
I'll buy from the supermarket most of the time, at Christmas and Easter I'll pay that bit more. Got a nice organic Turkey that is still running about right now ready for Christmas.
When I was a kid my dad had an allotment. One year we kept two turkeys to eat for Xmas. One of the died prematurely but the other grew to full size. It was delicious and I don't usually like turkey. I remember when we killed it, it's head came off and it was running around like a headless turkey for bloody ages
Small world, i've just been finding out different ways to cook leeks. I've opted for the pan fried version
