Why? Because I'll make you look stupid again like every time you have a feeble little Daily Mail style rant?

    Ok make me look stupid.

Smoking in films does not encourage youngsters to smoke. Neither does having ***s at eye level in a shop. If a kid wants to smoke, he/she will smoke. And it's more about going against the grain and being cool with mates rather than seeing it in a film. Are they suggesting that films about murders encourage us all to go out and kill someone?

If smoking is this frowned upon, ban the ****ing thing. But don't make it nearly impossible to smoke in all situations but still be all too happy to take peoples money for it.

I first read something along these lines about 10 years ago. It didn't happen then and I doubt it'll happen now.

So explain how 'this country has lot the plot' when the British Medical Journal come up with a feeble suggestion that will never be implemented? It's a non-story designed to wind up halfwits like you, nothing else.

Now run along and stop believing all the ****e that you read <ok>

There's a really good film called 'Thankyou for Smoking' that deals with this. I recommend watching it.
I'm not a smoker but aslong as you are doing it away from me then I have no problem with it. We live in a mummy state where everything is censored, soon children will have nothing left to watch.

So you're avoiding the point I'm making? How has 'this country lost the plot'?

Take as long as you want <ok>

The rot set in when Andy Capp was forced to appear without the *** he always had in his mouth in the early cartoon strips.

I stopped smoking 5 years ago, but every attempt to stamp the habit out makes we want to take it up again, in a futile but satisfying gesture of defiance.

I meant nanny state, no idea why I said mummy state.
Children are being protected against so many different things these days, films are losing their creativity and originality because of censors - the infamous 12A (PG13 in USA) rating that effectively ruins some films. So you have to wait for the DVD release to see a film as the director intended.
On TV you now have to show the right amount of ethnic diversity if you don't want to upset anybody, which explains the throwaway Indian families that come and go in shows like Eastenders.
And if this smoking law ever see's the light of day, it's just another example.

I'm a firm believer that if you are raised correctly, you will make the right decisions.

By this continous opression thrust upon us by ridiculous and farcical human rights activists, study groups, "medical experts" and other government led studys that are designed to agree with everything they say.

The last goverment sacking someone they hired because his drug claims contradicted their beliefs is a prime example.

But they have no power though? You're getting angry about a group of people whose job it is to warn the public against the risk of smoking for coming up with ideas to reduce the amount of kids that smoke. It's not a law that's been passed, as your other example showed, these panels aren't there to make new laws.

If you really think they're going to ban all films that contain smoking to under 18s then you're an idiot <ok>

Another example of what? There are no laws forcing the writers of Eastenders to add people of different ethnic backgrounds to the show, it's just their way of trying to represent the population of London a bit more accurately, and to be honest Eastenders is still pretty much an all white cast. You've just shot yourself in the foot there <ok>

In what way are ratings damaging films? Some films are destined for an adult audience, some aren't. I've got no interest in watching films like Spiderman 2 or Ice Age 3, they might as well be aimed at kids.

They banned adverts on tv, they banned advertising from formula one, when do cigarettes have to go behind the counter? they already are in some countries.

Not interested in the media article, however, maybe banning films to under 18s
(with smoking) is the next step, it would not surprise me.

For those of you that do smoke their is a petition set up, to get smoking back into our now empty pubs, please follow the link...http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/14103
