Agreed. And it's not the first time Bowyer has done this. It shows how ruthless he is, and not in a complimentary way in my view. Bowyer has built up a reputation among fans for plain talking, honesty and trustworthiness. But when it comes to his relationship with Duchatelet this reputation does not hold up to close examination. Several times, without apparent need to, Bowyer has said nice things about Roland. But when LB has an axe to grind with his boss, he is sometimes prepared to use (by not using) the young members of his squad to make a point, rather than express his beef with some of his renowned 'plain' talking. Of course teenage players (who have probably spent years in the academy looking up to the senior team) would burst with pride at the opportunity to be part of a senior match-day at the Valley, even if they knew they would not be called off the bench to actually play. Lee Bowyer is content to deny a few of them that experience, in order to make an unspoken point to Duchatelet.
Looking forward to returning to my spiritual home in SE7 today. Nothing beats the walk down Floyd Road on a match day. I think a draw is the best we can hope for, given its Neil Harris’ first game and we have soooo many out injured.
Naby Sarr dropped ...he can have no complaints after his last two performances. Deji comes in. The bench is dire. No options whatsoever.
I was just thinking how sh1t Leko is when he scores. All this passing around the back is frustrating to watch but we've scored two excellent goals on the break. A bit lucky with the penalty shout, but a great scoreline considering the injuries.
2-2 FT A draw was a fair result, although with a lot more composure from Leko & Oztumer we could have built a bigger lead before the match swung away from us. The big worry - apart from our current form - is the reported serious injury to Josh Cullen (ligament damage?) ...that is going to leave a massive hole in our team which we all know won’t be filled. Defensively we were poor in the second half, but that could be a big point come the end of the season. I would go as far as to say that we will be relegated if Conor Gallagher gets injured.
As far as I can see, Cullen's injury leaves us with 4 Championship quality players; Phillips Purrington Lockyer Gallagher.
A decent performance considering the players missing and the loss of Cullen to what looked like a serious injury. We even finished looking the likelier to score. Phillips made save of the season with his feet from a deflected shot, and I agree a draw was fair. Alfie Doughty looked a good prospect, first time I've seen him, quite hungry for a lad making his debut. Cullen will be a huge loss though, and let's hope it's not as bad as it looks.
If your one of the people who doesnt rate Dillon Phillips.i urge you to put the crack pipe down. Similarly if you think Macaulay bonne is anything more than div 2 striker.i urge you to put the crack pipe down.
