We don’t need a Head of State after the Queen. The PM is enough, aided by a written constitution. I mean ....”Prince” Andrew ....FFS The bloke would be washing dishes in normal life.
6% of viewers believed that he was telling the truth. The prince could be in very deep doo-doo. Brexiteers are 3 times more likely than remoaners to believe him. Make of that what you will.
This brings shame to the people of Bromley and to the staff of Wetherspoons 'The Richmal Crompton' in particular https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/...-man-sent-banana-wetherspoons-punter-bromley/ The item in question will have to have been paid for in some way and I am sure that the perp will be traced.
A black gentleman was in Wetherspoons drinking with a friend and somebody sent over a single banana to his table, Spoons staff couldn't see what the problem was! Really? or were they just being as racist as the person who sent the banana in the first place.
This happened because of a new app which allows anybody to buy something, then have it delivered to any table. I mean really, what is the point of that? Pointless, useless apps are a scourge of our time. If we must have such stupid things, at the very least it should be mandatory for anybody using them to properly identify themselves, so insulting or intimidating acts like this can be traced back to the moron who does them. As for the staff, I expect they were on auto-pilot and didn't even stop to think. That's another thing wrong with this time we live in now. Electronics and computerisation - including idiot apps - are making people mentally lazy. Like idiots who drive their cars into rivers because the sat-nav told them when to turn, and it doesn't ever occur to them to disobey. It's easier than ever now to sleep walk through your life, not paying any attention to work, or relationships, or the community around you.
I think you are being very kind to the staff Lardi.... taking an order of a single banana over to a table with a black man sitting at it … even the most stupid of staff would understand the significance of this
Maybe I am. But I'm pretty sure their minds are not on providing the best service they can to customers (like actually noticing who the customer is). I would doubt that whoever handed over the banana even noticed the guy at the table was black. They probably wouldn't have noticed if he had three heads.
When he complained the staff refused to see any issue. He went back next day and got the same response. That is deliberate.
I know several Lawyers who would be willing to test that out and I am sure that Wetherspoons wouldn't want even more bad publicity.
Somebody places an order. Wetherspoons get the order out and serve it. Wetherspoons have not done anything wrong. How can Wetherspoons apologise for this?
What Wetherspoons have done "wrong" is refuse to put on sack cloth, roll around in some ashes and wail the politically correct mantra about how sorry they are. Obviously they should ethically screen every order that is placed with them, to ensure there is no possible offensive consequence, before they take anything to any table. Their staff should all be extensively trained in advanced political correctness. And if they transgress in any measure, they must learn to jump like a scalded cat and launch into a frenzy of hysterical remorse. It doesn't matter how affected or insincere this begging for forgiveness is - they just have to do it. Only then, will the full force of the PC Gestapo not be unleashed upon them. Such is the hyper-sensitivity to this problem now, that one racist idiot playing with a dumb app could cost thousands of people their jobs and change the future of an entire corporation. The moron who ordered the banana should be found and shamed. If that cannot be done, it's a pretty sad state of affairs. But that isn't the fault of Wetherspoons. If any of their staff are being accused of deliberate collusion in a racist act, the accusers should provide some hard evidence, or retract the accusation. For me, people being denounced by random or casual or lazy accusations of racism are as unacceptable as racism itself. I hate racism. But I also hate political correctness.
