And long may it continue. I do have to say St Goodness that you are beginning to freak me out..when is your evil twin brother coming back?
Saints certainly should be cautious.........However given their present league position every one they play is below them.......
I have just read this on the Portsmouth News web site written by a Pompey supporter; "So what sort of manager are we all looking for then? One who will get a squad that cost very little to play attractive free-flowing football all the time, will win most games, wont ever have players sent off, will play youth regardless of whether they are good enough and still win games, has managed at the highest level, will always play formations that all posters on this site agree with, will always sign and play players that all posters on this site agree with, never blames the ref, is always word-perfect with the media, and the opposite of everything else that SC has been critisized for over the past year. Now that's a tall order!!! Not even Fergie would meet those requirements!!!!!!!" Blimey I think they are after our Nigel.
I'm not worried about other Championship sides wanting NA, but if his profile increases he may be lured away by a PL side. Not this year but in the future. Time for Nicola to kidnap Nigel's wife!
I don't think our Nigel, and I mean OUR NIGEL, will allow our current position to lead to complacency. He is far too smart for that. If you listen to his interviews it is crystal clear that he is preparing for the inevitable injuries/form dips/other teams resurgence so he will maintain the momentum come what may. There will be rocks in the road ahead, but Nigel is ready for them. I genuinely feel Nigel will be one of the greatest managers we have ever had!
NA (speaking on Player recently) said we should see where we are in January. Spoke as if a reasonable target was top ten in January, presumably followed by a late push. Used one of his favourite phrases: the team should never get too high, never get too low. Despite the small voice of reason saying there will be bad times, I would rather enjoy this top of the table feeling.
Was it Glastronaut Godders?, he's left this site (too many "Scumhampton" people posting) and is now letting the News have the benefit of his wisdom. This board is going the way of the Blue army, they'll be more mods than posters soon. Saints top of the league, wonder why they've all gone . Poor old Dev will be moderating himself soon.
I was thinking that myself LD. I thought of posting a thread asking where have all the pompey till i die fans gone or should i say "Only post when were winning fans gone" I have missed the banter that we have taken on the chin the last couple of years on the old BBC 606 and found myself trawling back though some old articles, as past members can still access it and found many old pompey foes that have funny enough gone to ground.
Yeah, & who was that pompey poster who from about December went on to our opponents page wishing them luck against us? Every week without fail! What a numpty.
I know it's an early league table and that teams currently near the bottom may not finish there, but... we have mostly played teams in the current bottom half, which means we have mostly played teams not on form. Just a tiny ounce of caution..... ... oh what the heck! WE ARE TOP THE LEAGUE, SAY WE ARE TOP THE LEAGUE
Oh no, we've lost him to them. They're so much bigger than us so it's no surprise. Do we get Cotterill for exchange?
Oft expectation fails, and most oft there Where most it promises; and oft it hits Where hope is coldest, and despair most fits (from All's well that end well) That said, you guys are steaming at the moment but it is early days.
You have to enjoy the highs when you can. If we have a bad run of games, we won't feel better because we didn't enjoy this moment. We are top of the League!!
