Jose Mourinho had been manager of Chelsea and Manchester United and now Tottenham. Tottenham have had the following managers under LEVY. 1..Mouricio Pocheettino (2014-2019) 5years. 2.Tim Sherwood (2013-2014) 3.Andre Vilas-Boas (2012-2013) 4. Harry Redknapp (2008-2012) 5.Juade Ramos (2007-2008) 6.Martin Jol (2004-2007) 7.Jacques Santini (2004) 8.Glen Hoddle (2001-2003) Now; Jose Mourinho (2019-?) Only Mouricio Pochettino has stayed up to five years. We all know that Jose Mourinho is a cheque book manager, I don't think Tottenham have that kind money to give him for transfer, he needs to sell players before he can buy or depends on the youth.
He'll either be gone by next January, or Spurs will be in such a bad position it's not even worth sacking him any more
I've always said it would be interesting to see what he can do to turn round a struggling club without just throwing a ****load of money at the problem. Spurs aren't exactly slumming it, but they're not as free-spending as he's used to - so it might be the (re)making of him and he might just have to work with what he's got. I'll give him a year or so....
I think he has a perfect match this weekend-away to West Ham. Someone have to park the bus Manuel Pellegrini or Jose Mourinho?
Interesting one this. Even Porto were one of the top sides in Portugal when he took over, but he took them to CL success somehow in his second season which was phenomenal given the competition around. After that, infinite money and top team with Chelsea, ready made top team at Inter, infinite money and top team at Real, back to Chelsea and then United with infinite money (****e signings though despite his moaning) United weren't impressed by his playing style, neither were Chelsea round two and Real were pretty disgruntled in the end as well. Most sides have finished on poor terms with him and he has this habit of leaving the club in a right mess when he's left. So...apart from Porto achieving European success, he's basically been given a relatively easy ride to his 'guaranteed' trophies which everyone claims. I think he'll do little more than an FA or Caribao cup with Spuds - not much money, big players out of contract which need replacing, over rated kids and somehow needs to reel in City and Liverpool eventually. Aint gonna go well unless he time-warps back 18 years to his Porto days of finding hidden, cheap gems, positivity and playing good football.
It's quite an interesting appointment, I'm looking forward to how he gets on. It could be the making of him, hes only mid 50s so only young in managerial terms. It all depends on how he takes to it, if he still has the passion for the job and wants to build a team. Looking at his comments hes become a bit pissed of with superstar players doing what they want and him taking the blame, this could be an opportunity for him to go back to basics, search for the hidden gems and make them better. Or he could just **** it all up. We will see
Mourinho would have demanded a transfer budget. Any top coach would have. So yes, he’ll spend. The question is how much. He’s been out of work a year, my guess is that he would have been compiling a list of targets for exactly this time. - not superstars but potential superstars and he’ll spend quite big in the next two windows. He’s avoiding saying that so that he doesn’t alienate his current players, some of whom he has to persuade to stay!
He will have to sell to spend. I think Tottenham missed the boat on this with a few of their players, Eriksen must be dirt cheap in January or get him free. Alli isn't anything special. Before I would have said they should sell Kane, but he is a Mourinho type player so will stay for now.
According to him, he is not going to bey new players until summer. In fairness Tottenham have good squad. I don't just know what happened.
Why would he take another payday? Hes minted and could retire now with no issue. He obviously didnt enjoy his stint at utd, so if it's just for the money why put yourself through it. Much easier ways for him to make a but extra as well.
He will have funds, but not like what hes used to and spurs dont have anywhere near the attraction of his previous clubs.
Problem for him and Spurs is that the prices for any of their targets have just gone up. Everyone knows Jose likes to spend, the situation Spurs are in (desperate for improvement and to win something) and the number of players who are unsettled and holding off on contracts till they see what happens. Time for clubs to cash in on desperation Its almost the same as the situation ManU were in when Jose came in, but Spurs have a slightly better squad for him to start with
Why do many of those already set for life continue to grab at any money-making opportunity, even though they have no need? Eden Hazard makes a silly advert for those biscuits you get free with a cup of coffee - multi-millionaire Hollywood actors make ads for bread or perfume or God knows what else. Sometimes they're amusing, sometimes just cringe-worthy - either way you can't escape the idea that they do it for the dosh. I can't say if Mourinho is motivated solely by money, but it would come as no surprise to me if it were true. Or perhaps he just can't live without football.
