it’s not a fair comparison though is it, because the Greenham is a direct prep whereas this race is finding out whether Altior stays a middle trip and whether Cyrname is overrated by the handicapper.

I’d say mouthwatering is fair. This is jumps racing and it’s all about the big horses meeting.

Got to disagree, my old love, a ‘prep’ as they say is still a ‘prep’. Personally I can’t get the slightest bit animated about the so called ‘duel’. On St Stephen’s Day perhaps but not at Ascot in late Nov, no. Personally, I would have gone to Haydock on Saturday with Altior (and have him trained to the minute) in order to find out one way or another if he stays 3 miles (in all probability going over 2 mile 5f will still leave questions unanswered re his stamina). Answer all the questions in one race, say I.

And should Altior go on to trot up on St Stephen’s Day and in the CGC (I don’t think he will, incidentally) the question will then be ‘why didn’t they go to Haydock and net an extra million?!?’. That would be even more relevant, in his case, as he isn’t owned by one of the comparatively super rich.

He will be back to 2 miles after Saturday. Making it not a prep but an important race in itself.

    Hexham 1.25 Lastin Memorys

This one seems to have a nice each way chance in this. A reliable sort, seldom out of the money for connections. Has run well after a break last time. Could be difficult to catch from the front today for trainer and jockey who both have been amongst the winners recently.

That’s it wishy washy. Don’t get me wrong he’s a decent tipster but so are many on here. He’s got a social media profile and the rp are using him to attract younger punters. I turned off when he kept going on about Antony Joshua.

I think you'll find Altior is running at Haydock so the 'Big Clash' is off...

Well, according to every crookie out there it is... :emoticon-0127-lipss :emoticon-0127-lipss :emoticon-0127-lipss

Now, now, old boy, no need for silliness on the forum. In The Lieutenant we trust and all that.

I see that ‘The Weekender’ are now describing Altior v Cyrname as ‘an epic clash’! Cor blimey it’s ‘The Greenham’ over bally fences. Also has anyone seen the comparatively woeful prizemoney on offer re that Ascot contest. For heaven’s sake it’s only the 3rd richest on the card!

That’s a huge price. Winning pointer but not overly impressive in bumpers. Steps up in trip now hurdling and that is sure to suit. Nothing from FOBs should be going off at 25s at the moment.
