It wasn't a real nurse, the Labour Party hired her to pretend she was one. <whistle>

In 1990 we didn't have the World Wide Web. The only online was disparate, usually University, large industrial or military networks that were haphazardly linked together over telephone lines.
I know about this because I was involved at the start. The "internet" as we know it didn't take hold until the very late 90s. In the late 90s we were still using 9600 baud modems and our phone lines.
Visionaries like Dr Cochrane can blame whoever they like but in 1990 the vast majority of people didn't even have a computer. The government would have been faced with the equivalent bill we're looking at today to upgrade the country and they would not have been able to justify the outlay.
It's OK comparing us to other countries but do you have any idea how much it would cost?
You're talking about digging up every road and garden in this country!
It is a ridiculous, mind numbingly stupid promise that they will never be able to deliver, ever! Anyone who believes them should get a prize of a pet unicorn.
Give people gas who don't have it ffs!
5G won't have the bandwidth to replace fibre but the future is a mixture of 5G, WiMax and fibre.
This is the problem with politicians dipping their toe in business matters. None of them have been in business.
Your point about markets supplying the easy to reach customers is true but why do you have a problem with it? Business A wants something that Business B can provide.
    It happens every where

It's pretty clear where your allegiance lies but I must point out that Labour were in government when our country was bankrupt by the Financial Sector gambling with money they didn't have.
Austerity, as the socialists call it, or living within our means as I would call it, was necessary because the pot was empty.
I assume you're a young man so us suffering for the last 10 years means that you aren't going to be saddled with even more debt than you will be anyway because we are still spending more than we bring in.
Raising tax rates reduces revenue because those paying the most tax have the means to pay to avoid tax. It may hurt your feelings but it's real life.
In a perfect world none of this would be a problem, unfortunately.....

Was wondering how we've gone from 91% last year to your 8% myth so checked it for myself.

It's now 94% - did Diane Abbott tell you it was only 8%?

Brought to Australia by religious nutcases from America (Kellogs).
The Aussie that came up with the name Weet-Bix (Bennison-osborne) was the son of English immigrants from Yorkshire!!!

Err no we haven’t. That’s not a deal (must not, really must not add ‘you berk’ as it’s very very rude and you can’t help it). It’s just the basis for leaving. We crash out with no deal next year unless miracles happen and we negotiate a free trade deal in a fraction of the usual time, or Johnson was lying again and extends the transition period.

That would be useful to some of our regular posters, from what I hear it’s a bit hard to tell the sex of the birds in the places they visit on an evening.
