Morning all, what is happening to not606 It seems to be suffering from increasing access problems.
Yesterday for example I was unable to log on for most of the time when the games were on. This morning I have only just been able to log after an hour of intermittant efforts.

All this has caused me to have a look at ja which now seems to be happily joging along. I am here because I prefer the format and we have a history now of more serious articles, but this is changing and ja seems to be gaining some ground on us. I am also disapointed to see many of my poster 'friends' have decided to post only on the other site.

So far I have not posted on ja (aprt from letting people know that I had decided to place my league on not606) but I fear for the growth of this site unless it sorts out the server problems.

What do people think, are you happy with the situation atm, why do you prefer this site?
For me it's the set up, the more open moderation and the way articles survive according to the interest rather than the time posted.

    What do you think?

Got to agree. That and the very poor Moderating (not from our guys I might add) bother me. Shame because I like this format and every time I go to JA it appears so outdated and stilted. So am in a quandry whether to wait and see if the server issues are resolved and put up with out of order mods from other teams on these stupid cross forum threads or cut my losses and go to a more reliable but poorer format. Still deciding personally.

Spurf, I too have been having issues.
Perhaps Mick would care to keep us informed re server issues.
I like this forum mainly because you don't so many irrelevant topics and postings.
    Together with some intelligent debate.
Occasionally I have a look over the other side of the fence, but it doesn't seem to have the class of this one.

I prefer it here but the downtime is a bit annoying. It doesn't bother me too much as this place is a bit slower paced in general, it's easier to come back to a debate after a couple of days and continue it over the next few.

That said I do use JA too, it's quite fun at times.

JA606. The main rival forum to this one. BBC 606 split more or less between the two forums.

Far too much WUMing on Ja for my tastes, but the server issues on here are a bit annoying at times.
Apparently it's to do with the growth of the user base and Mick's already addressed it a couple of times.

I haven't been on much the last few days so haven't noticed any server problems but like PNP said, the site owners are aware of it and trying to sort it out.

I like this place, it looks a lot cleaner and fresher. Plus, we have an android/iPhone app, and I rarely can't access it due to server problems.

Not606 has such good debate that I would never consider going back to old 606/JA forum layout. The banter here is much better too and everyone knows the limits and those who cross the line are banned quickly and effortlessly. ja is a free for all wum/spam fest.

I really can't see the attraction of ja, I think too many have followed sheeplike feeling safe in a format they recognise. I found this site daunting to start with the extra features, but its just light years ahead, and you're right Spurf, 61 would have a field day here with his pictures and near the knuckle humour. It saddens me most of the boys, a&p, ddd, etc have all gone there too (have you seen Charly anywhere?). The moderation is just as lame as the beeb, Football is a working mans game played by working class men, so working class language should be the norm.

I was pretty much only going on JA until a few days ago when it suddenly dawned on me that maybe football forums don't have to be quite so dumb, annoying, cliquey and unfunny.

I'd set up a Not606 ID months ago but ignored it. Have to say that this forum is MILES better than JA606. Incredibly refreshing to be able to read genuine debate among people who can actually form sentences.

I'm even starting to notice some of the regulars here and noticing what a grumpy sod Ensil is.

Joking! And I've got to say - his judgement that JA606:

"Half of the threads are no more than trading of back slapping smiley swaps, the other half are insults."

    Is exactly spot on.

All in all I'm definitely a Not606 man now. This place is miles better.

(I've not experienced any problems logging on or any other tech probs, though).

It is good to read the intelligent contributions from posters on here compared to the very flimsy nature of most of the comments on ja. I am still surprised like you smart, that Spurcat, Grandspurs, DDD, 61, Charly, and a number of others seem to prefer ja. I have had another look and there is very little of substance which makes it all the more frustrating that these guys give it credibility.

Dose anybody think we should be proactive on this?

posting invites to the selected few on ja.

I think aanp was Squid over there and he said he was leaving for the reasons discussed. I suggested he come here for a better quality of discussion but I don't think he saw it.

Spurcat comes over here from time to time but I think we've got a solid group of good posters that keep this board an interesting place to talk Spurs. A couple extra would be nice but we're ticking over nicely.
