Could the main reason be that the farmers or whoever wont pay the Brits a proper living wage, its okay for people coming here living 10 to a shed paying **** all into the system, British people who want to work need a living wage when they have a mortgage and family, its no coincidence since Blair opened the floodgates to any Tom,Dick, and Abdul that slavery is alive and thriving in the UK

Same as over here, OLOF, we get a lot of 'foreign' fruit pickers, many of them European students, who get paid s*it wages and are expected to be grateful. Aussies won't take these jobs because the pay is so low a family couldn't survive on it. The son of a fiend of ours (French) came over and worked on a farm. He and his mate were the only two who were not Asian. The cocky (farmer) let them go after a week because they complained about the low wage. Then he never paid them! Lovely.

That's because he was the son of the Devil so could only work at night and everybody was worried about getting bitten, nothing to do with him complaining.

I know. What is it about tossers who think they’d be better off out of a Union that they can’t see the downside?

Take a look at Denmark. Also in the EU, also kept it's own currency, similar 80% reliance of service industries for it's economy. About 14% of our population are immigrants in Denmark it's about 13%.

In Denmark however they pay much higher taxes but have much higher GDP per capita as they have lower wealth inequality and only 5% of their population is classified as in poverty as opposed to 22% in the UK.

They also don't have a minimum wage but have much stronger unions than here.

So go ahead do the dog whistle racism and blame those immigrant scapegoats and then go ahead and put your big Turkey voting for Christmas cross next to the Tories/Brexit party and then get ready in 5 years time to start looking for another scapegoat for why we're not richer as a society but some ****s are still laughing all the way to the bank.

Perhaps Denmark are not the best country to hold up as "the good life" especially in light of countries using immigrants as scapegoats.

Yes but my original reply was to your post about how the country was run by their government, and showed how their government was reacting to the immigration problems they are now having. Your quote is a random survey that asked 24,499 randomly-selected adults in 15 countries in Western Europe.

But if their country has similar make up of economies, similar number of immigrants, similar circumstances in terms of geography, membership of EU etc why are their citizens doing so much better than ours?

As someone with danish relatives, I had a view that the Danes were quite intolerant of Muslims. On reflection I think it’s social/geo circumstance.

In the UK, my work and social network is generally very tolerant and embraces ethnic diversity. The Danish relatives are essentially hillbilly’s. I’m sure if they lived and worked in Copenhagen they’d have a different view.

    People are people.

Interesting point the article makes about differentiating between an individual and a group... Ie Mo from the kebab shop is a great guy but you can’t trust Muslims, they’re all potential suicide bombers.
    It’s like, “I’m not a racist, I have a black friend, but...” <laugh>

Probably the main difference is they pay around 55% personal income tax, allowing a greater amount of government spending (if managed correctly). I can't see any party being voted in in the UK running with that in their manifesto.
