No I think the reason for tomorrow if it questionable will be to save the ground for Saturday!! But obviously they will do everything they can I’m sure and the drainage at Cheltenham is very good too

I must say I love this new look ‘Daily Thread’. Branching into the old realms of meteorological forecasting and predicting. Have some of you given up the gee-gees and taken to predicting the weather instead?!?

But don’t forget people none of you will ever triumph over old girl Mother Nature. That cruel mistress has beaten practically everyone who has ever taken her on.

What did you make of last weekend's action old boy? Santini must have had you reaching for the G and T? I think Andy Dufresne and Abracadabras are two highly promising novice hurdlers <ok>

It certainly rained really heavy last night and was raining heavy when I left this morning and we are not too many miles from the racecourse. Can't see the whole weekend being lost though.. much will depend on what rain they get later today..

I thought Santini made a satisfactory bow, on Sunday, at a course which was never going to suit or play to his strengths. He got the job done though in what afterall was merely a ‘prep’. Think he will remain unbeaten this term and at a guess can see his next 3 runs being what was the Lexus Chase, over Christmas, then either the Cotswold or Denman, followed by the CGC itself. Santini remains, in my opinion, the most exciting staying chaser since Kauto Star.

One who I thought was awesome at the weekend was Fussil Raffles. A million miles away from being fully fit he still managed to grind out a win at Grade 2 level. Since arriving at Seven Barrows he has had 3 runs – winning a Grade 1 and a pair of Grade 2’s. When you consider that he is far, far from the finished article that is some record. Next time when fully tuned up we should see an amazing performance. Really wouldn’t be surprised if a 5YO won the Champion Hurdle again in ’20. That 5YO being Fusil Raffles.

Across the water was very impressed by the fencing debut of Fakir D'Oudairies and old boy Cilaos Emery really seemed to come of age in his Grade 2 victory. Both animals to keep on the right side of, methinks.

For cheltenham 2019 I had an early bet with Cilaos Emery. This year I have nothing with him so far but at least I hope he can run without problems.

I'd give Keltus a chance today off 118 today. Jeremy Scott's yard doing OK and he should strip fitter for his reappearance 4th at Wincanton.

I'm only on Skyline, today. His last two runs have been promising and I'm hoping the step up in distance goes in his favour.
