Actually he said "you are always in danger of getting punished" Which is a correct observation about the way a game can go. Ask him about the defending and he would probably given an honest answer - it wasn't good enough. You can't take his comments about our attack, as him giving an excuse for bad defending That's not what he's saying. Personally, I don't think the guy is at the level that we need at CB But that's no reason to start hating on him, that is just nasty and unproductive.
Would you prefer him to say "ooh i couldn't sleep i couldn't eat it's ruined me, i darent step foot on a pitch again" ?!? because that would be good wouldn't it?! you have a bad game, you get over it an focus on the next if you let it get you down it'll effect other matches, and we'd be ****ed! and "We had many chances to put the game to bed in the first half and, when you donât do that, you are always in danger of getting punished. I think that is what happened on Saturday. If you see the goals that we conceded as well, two own goals, you would think we could have avoided that but itâs just the way of being punished when you donât finish your chances"" What's wrong with that? we had many chances..true if you dont put the game to bed your in danger of getting punished...true. you would think we could of avoided 2 own goals...true.
Not if you have a good defence and not have a guy that was shocking when he came on and missed tackle after tackle. As someone said on here we have messed up bigger leads before so its not like we have not done it before. This season we have been pretty poor in attack so 3 goals was a first. So you can't blame the attack too much. Awful defending is the norm. And Johan, is a massive joke. His comments post United are still a disgrace. Letting in 8 goals to him does not seem like something out of the norm.
He is not but that does not give him the excuse to be a lazy numpty who makes idotic comments after the clubs biggest beating since 1896. It might be nasty but i no longer care. I am one of the more positive people on here and these performances and interviews have pushed me over the edge.

I think some are being over critical of his comments here. What he says is 100% correct, if you don't put your chances away there is always a danger you'll be punished - nothing controversial about that statement. I don't get the impression he's blaming the front line and every chance this one-liner was taken from a much longer interview where he could have said plenty else. The guy may not be as good as he once threatened but no point blasting him for a few words that are factually correct that were probably taken from a longer interview
We were 4-0 up on Newcastle and they nearly beat us, luckily we held on for a draw that day. No one could put any faith in that defence to hold onto a lead of any margin regardless of how our strikers perform. To concede 4 goals against a poor Blackburn side no disprespect is shameful and Djourou is one of the main culprits and has been for years, he's actually a complete waste of space and has never performed. It's not about hating it's about reality, if we want the club to move forward we need top quality, sadly he is not and like some of the other dead wood we have shifted he is another that needs to be moved on and replaced, Gary Cahill or Djourou, that was Wengers choice, he went with Djourou and the results have been speaking for themselves since.
Djourou is a bloody idiot and should keep his little mouth shut - especially when it is his fault why we are conceding some goals ! How can he blame the attack when they scored 3 goals ? His job is to prevent goals so clearly the attack are doing far better than the defence. so what that the attack missed plenty of chances ? If you score 3 goals and lose the game it can only be the fault of the defence !If we had scored 15 goals we would've lost the game 16-15 because our defence is so ****e.l
He's not blaming the attack He's saying that if you don't take your chances, then 'you are always in danger of getting punished' Which is true If someone asked him a question about the defending, he would probably have given an honest answer It wasn't good enough. You can't extrapolate that he's blaming the attack as an excuse for poor defending from these comments.
Djourou has probably just sealed his fate withe Gunners fans with that statement. He has been on 'thin ice' for a while, i think he must have forgotten the time he scored an own goal against Chelsea and RVP saved his bacon by scoring 2. Whatever he meant to say, he is trying to deflect criticism from the p*** poor defending on saturday and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. Any team that scores 3 goals away from home deserves to get something out of the game.
I would not argue with that if it was said by RVP, Arshavin or in fact Gervinho who has missed one good chance. Or even Wenger. But for a defender Djourou who actually sat on the bench when we were ahead and came on the pitch to start leaking goals it was grossly inappropriate. How many goal do we have to score in an away game to keep Djourou happy - 5 ? 6? Same about his "smile" comment after ManU game. These are occasions when some people have to shut up.
Piksie ... as far as I am concerned you cannot fault the attack or even criticise them for missing a few chances when we scored 3 goals away from home. As always it always comes down to the defence, them not being able to secure games for us. Assuming our offensive game falters then we are pretty much guaranteed to lose those games because our defence cannot defend. In fact it should be a case of our defence winning us points if the forwards are having an off day .. but it seems the defence are the ones constantly having off days which puts an extra ordinary amount of pressure on our offensive unit.
TBH we have been the squanderers of chances even back at Highbury. I used to remember us consistently having 20-30 shots on goal at most home games and not scoring the goals we should have. We are certainly not as a clinical as we should be.
In those days we would often score 4 or 5 though and we had a good defence. We're still creating chances, which is a good thing. I don't see us missing a few as a bad thing - as long as we keep creating. The difference now though is that our defence looks very vulnerable, especially to set pieces, this should be bread and butter stuff to a club of our stature but time and time again it is costing us games.
