All this stuff begs an interesting question. Should we write off this season with still two thirds of it left, or is there still time with the right guy at the helm to achieve top 6 or even better?
Bamba certainly neded as a player given Morrison's broken wrist. I think with the right appointment top 6 is still acheivable given there is no real breakaway group. Oh, one or two key signings also needed and better utilisation of those on our books who can play a bit.
Why not? He commands the respect of the current squad of players, and with the right support from those above him which could include a DOF, and those below him, he'd do no worse than we'd have done sticking with Neil. That's not to say it's the right way to go, but given the club's history of appointing external managers, we could do a lot worse. That may not seem to be a glowing reference, but it would make sense as a caretaker role if we're not about to splash some cash on a "name".
Woud definitely need a DOF with Sol, and not just for his exisiting coaching badges either. The last time we tried ex players was a disaster. Young and Gabbidon were thrown into it without support after OGS got the elbow - and then we got Slade. .........
Have to respectfully disagree OS. Caretaker possibly given his status on the club but City need a man with vision and the understanding of modern day possession based football through midfield on the deck and not get it up to the forwards as quick as possible. ( That’s not Harris) Sol has been under Warnock for so long now he probably thinks his way is still the right way.
I can't agree with that - according to Warnock Bamba thinks he's Beckenbauer...... As strong a character Bamba is himself, he was aways going to follow his mentors' (Warnock's) directive on the pitch as to methods. That doesn't mean he can't bring a different approach now he's been "freed up" of the pre-determined tactics. I'm not for a minute saying that he's the answer - the answer would be to get a proven candidate with the necessary experience to take the club forward on the back of his own personal record. Unfortunately, apart from Warnock who was the right person at the right tme, we have been pants at that.
I read today Warnock is to be interviewed for the Hearts job, They’ll be ‘his sort of fans’ and it’ll be ‘his sort of club’ but it’s a long way from Devon
Harris still favourite but drifting - Bowyer coming in from 8/1 now down to 5/2. Also a lot of money going on Mark Hughes.
Mark Hughes has gone odds on favourite. When they suspend on one it could be they are looking at what odds to adjust to. Harris has been drifting today.
Well the oracle Annis says Harris a done deal https://cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=211004
