Fairs Cup wins have now been expunged from records due to non UEFA recognition/invitational.

Saw this on Twitter. Collymore as the source. So not exactly set in stone.

However, what a joke UEFA and FIFA are. The arrogance of them both stinks up football.

UEFA probably wouldn't recognise Accrington Stanley if their teambus turned up at their door, doesn't mean they don't matter!

The fairs cup means nothing to me in comparison to Newcastle United... they can strike it from the records it doesn't change our love for the club..

It's true. Followed the link to that source and it says the following:

Well said. It was a very difficult trophy to win and this is sad news. In fact, I recall that Don Revie, no less, labelled Ujpest Dosza the 'best team in Europe' after Leeds lost to them in the semis. Yet Newcastle beat them well in the final.

 

I was there so Fairs cup means a lot to me. UEFA, FIFA can do what they want but they cant take away the great memories.

At the end of the day, this is nothing new and gave Mackem's on the old 606 excuses to belittle our achievements over the years. The fact is that as UEFA did not actually run the competition then they simply don't recognise it. Why would they? It had nowt to do with them. But there is no escaping the fact that the cup was a major European competition at the time competed by many of Europes BIG clubs. In fact now that the Champions League has replaced the European Cup and includes 2nd, 3rd, 4th placed teams then all the big clubs play in that rather than the Europa League then it was argubly a bigger competition than the current Europa League.
