Totally outplayed and out passed by a struggling L2 side . A massive clear out is required in January and I would be swinging a very big axe McLaughlin, McLaughlin , De Bock , Leadbitter , McGeady , Grigg , McNulty , Power , Watmore , Wyke , Maguire . Get rid of them all and start again ,though recently appointed I would be asking is Phil Parkinson a step up from Jack Ross or a blunder and a big step backwards . I am disgusted at how things are going and don’t normally react by posting in this manner I realise this was only the EFL Trophy but to be runners up last year and to crash out by losing to a team of U21s and 3-0 to a struggling L2 team . The incoming players should be identified NOW and we should be poised , and not waiting at the dying embers of the window as has been the case too many times . Come out of hiding Stewart Donald and face the flak and give us some reassurances about where our club is heading.

That reminded me of Bury away in the league cup when Quinny was manager

Next game Roy Keane was brought in we never looked back

But tonight's performance I use the term loosely was ten times worse than that Bury performance

Grant leadbitter as captain

A few weeks ago, I would've disagreed with this, but not now. There's too many of those players you list that simply can't be arsed, and that's totally unacceptable.

I kna it's a pointless cup competition ( least in my eyes & still think cost us promotion last season )

But every player should give no more than a million % for that shirt

He looks so slow , he has appeared to age dramatically since he joined us , as it is we didn’t really need him in any case , he shouldn’t be in the side let alone captain . If he loves the club as much as he claims he should retire gracefully .

Massive clear outs rarely work.
Besides we dont have the funds to do it.
I think maybe safc is too big a job for the likes of PP.
There is talent/ability in the squad we just dont have the coaching smarts to do much with it.
I keep harking back to what bowyer took on 18 months ago or so.
A rookie manager, an owner disenchanted with the club, low crowds and a very very thin squad. Freebies, loans and good coaching got them promoted and even now doing very well ( considering ) in the c'ship.
We have employed a yes man with a passable record in the lower echelons. Journeyman manager perfectly suits him as it does/did grayson.
Frighteningly things wont improve much I fear. Donald is never going to do much about PP no matter how abysmal things get. He fannied around with ross for way too long.Getting rid of PP would take too big a chunk out of our new money besides.
Our ownership and future are shrouded in so much secrecy to be at best opaque.
Frankly it's a mess and Donald retreating into his shell and allowing methven to spruik about bust lifts and infrastructure is just pouring oil on the fire.

Should have played the reserves, then an excuse for the loss, how will they get it right for the Coventry game ? what has happened to this team ?
 
I haven't seen any of the game but the bottom line is we have been turned over by a struggling league 2 team by 3 goals. Our crowds now have significantly dipped. We have players who either are not good enough or don't want to be here. We have a manager who, if we are all honest" simply isn't up to reviving this once great club. In my 55 years of supporting this club, this is without doubt the lowest ebb. But once all these players, managers, directors, owners have long gone, we will still be here. I will always support the shirt, but I'm currently ashamed of those who are playing in it.
