After some sober reflection I have to say that our latest defeat feels like one inept display too many. The body count in terms of critical games not only lost , but lost with a background of directionless, disjointed, shapeless performances has become a too familiar pattern to be bad luck.

It is , of course , questionable to blame neil lennon for taking the celtic job when it was offered. It is , sadly , entirely appropriate to blame a short-sighted board for offering such a post to a completely inexperienced , unproven manager with a completely inexperienced , unproven team of assistants.

There are , undoubtedly , mitigating factors. Who - in reality - could be single-minded enough to contend with the off-field concerns that neil lennon has endured yet remain focused on the myriad decision making issues encountered in the managing of a major business ?

Nonetheless , for me , its time the club recognised that its time to bite the bullet and face up to the reality that appointing one of its favourite sons to the pivotal role of manager was indeed a foolhardy experiment that has, for quite foreseeable reasons, gone badly wrong.

  2. Jesus, RL - a bit reactionary, no?

As soon as Rangers lose an Old Firm game, should they pap McCoist?

Should Barca have punted Guardiola after a big loss?

Lennon knows the mistakes he made on Sunday, I'm sure - besides, who do you suggest we get that would take the job?

Have to disagree. Yes, we've had a poor start but there's a long way to go. When you consider how well Lennon coped last season he's proved that he can handle the pressure. Yesterday was painful but was it any more painful for us than it was for the Rangers when we gubbed them 3-0 last season?

And who went on to win the title?

Anyway, who's going to come in and take the job? The fact that Lennon and McCoist are Old Firm managers is indicative of how devalued our clubs have become in the past few years. No decent manager worth their salt is going to want the job.

    I disagree.

Lenny got the better of Walter (who has vast experience) over the course of 8 games on a head to head basis, I have no doubt that he will do the same against Ally.

We had a tough game on Thursday night in stifling heat and I believe we were out on our feet by the 2nd half against Rangers. KI hardly got a kick of the ball after putting in a tremendous shift against Atletico, I don't think that's a coincidence.

I'm putting it down to the fact that Rangers were at home and we were tired after Thursday's exertions.

Even if lennon was to leave, who would take the job?

We spent our transfer kitty on she bangs she bangs....

Trust me, if lennon left now we would have peter lawell in the dugout

Well said RL I did predict Lennon would leave or be sacked this season and I stand by it, he is just not cut out for this and yesterday's pumpfest for you showed.

I think its time everyone at Celtic were officially given a massive pay cut to approximately £1,000 to £1,500 per week.
Their old net wages can be paid by the Cambell Og/ Bain method of tax avoidance.
Celtic will, in order for HMRC to be seen to be fair and impairtial will have at least 12 years before they have any questions
    to answer.
This massive savings will mean Celtic will be able to afford a top earning manager and new players every year.
We will be able to compete in Europe and win the SPL.
If we remain in the regular old fashion method of paying our taxes, to the love of the ..ns fans lives, the Queen I am afraid we
are going to have to make do with the type of resources we currently have.

Why don't you do what you tell Celtic fans to do and worry about Rangers instead of concerning yourself with our manager?

Lennon is going to make mistakes he's still a novice, we're going to have to accept it. Rangers where always going to turn in a performance at home against us at some point I would concentrate on getting changes at board room level rather than the dugout.

The board/ownership is definitely where the the problem lies, I think I said - or tried to say - that. But , yes , Lennon is a novice....why are they appointing a novice...and compounding the problem by allowing himm to surround himself with more novices as assistants.........the board issue has history though...I knew only one person who thought tony mowbray might work out, everyone else I know who takes an interest in celtic/football pretty much predicted the car crash it would become....why not our board ?

..and basically Im never going to get over choosing to appoint O`Neill when Gus Hiddink was waiting to sign on as manager...seriously , irrespective of how it turned out, what kind of decision making process went into that ? Look at both their records at the time.

The board/desmond need a little less focus on their notions of "celtic family " and a little more focus on results.

lenny has made many mistakes and will make many more. However, to call for him to be sacked so early into the new season seems to me a crazy idea. Even if he was sacked who could you replace him with?

Hopefully Sunday will cure him of his samaras love affair. its also screamingly obvious to all that we need a centre half badly. i think until a replacement can be found dan maj should play ahead of loovens.

WTF has happened to commons ??

What more can Lennon do? He should have been backed in the summer to build on what he had last year and wasnt

I do worry that lennon lets the lads enjoy themselves off the pitch a bit too much though. Ive seen from twitter (sad i know) but the likes of Ledley, Commons, Hooper and Stokes seem to be enjoying life a bit too much. I know Lenny, Thompson and taht **** from Leicester whos is on the coaching staff enjoy a pint or 50 -but you need to be telling the players to lay off during the season. I know they are young and entitled to a life - but someone would do well to remind the ****s playing career is short. There is plenrty of time to drink and remenisce after you have won trophies and retired -not to look back and enjoy how you once where decent but then got fat and slow and won **** all - the way commons appears to be going

That said Lenny did get his tactics wrong from the start

Mulgrew in left midfield worked once last season when we needed a bit of height as rangers played with McCulluch weir and bougherra who set out to bully the team. There was no need to play him in midfield given the players we had available.

Ledley should always play too. He might not be noticed in many games - but take the whore out the team and suddenly you realise just how important he is
