In the bumper at Naas Mullins has the fav but I think Hill of Truth has the best form in the race and can land the lucky last for Charles Shrewdy Byrnes 9/2
In the bumper at Kelso I like Telaar for trainer Rebecca Menzies. Interesting pedigree and yard amongst the winners recently. Could sneak a place at big odds
Hmmm not all that impressive but if Hendo is to be believed he has a fair bit more development left. I won't be throwing away my CH tickets just yet, but not as confident as I was!
Last year's juveniles were muck, fusil raffles wouldn't win a champion hurdle in 30 years, jumping over the last 2 decided that race, nowhere near good enough. Buveir dair 13/2 an absolute gift, the 2nd from the supreme got turned over as well, classical dream is one paced and has never had to go a champion hurdle gallop, he has at least 10 pounds to find and would be better off over fences.
Backed White Moon in the Badgers last night, then after seeing his jumping on The Opening Show, wished I hadn't !! I rarely go for 2 in the same race so I have to stick with it. Something of a plunge on Just A Sting though and I was tempted to join in
Sizable Sam in the Wincanton Bumper - carries the same colours as one of my favourite bumper horses Empiracle
God luck finding a 2 miler who can run close to 170. Grand sancy was outclassed by silver Streak before he fell, the juveniles need to find 16-20 pounds to even compete. If klassical dream gets beat in the Morgiana he could be be sent over fences and bvd could end up odds on on the day.
But my point last season (and again this) is that BVD hasn't run to 170 ever. Period. His form has never stacked up to 170, even his first Champion Hurdle, winning from the 10 YO MTOY. He's been lucky to have a dearth of real opposition and last season he started to show he is in decline. All about opinions of course but I think he will find at least 1 or 2 too good again this time around.
Silver streak beaten 15l in Ch and 40l in aintree hurdle, completely outclassed a horse who's just given the supposed top juvenile a serious race. What bvd done to samcro at newcastle was clearly a 170 performance, 3rd when inexperienced in probably the best supreme novice of all time. On his day he's a top class 2 miler, far worse horses have won the champion hurdle. 17 from 23, 8 G1s, 2 Champion Hurdles, he's a superstar, and you are hoping dross somehow manages to beat him.
He was rubbish wasn't he reebs and nowhere near first 3 places.I guess he 'll drop a few pounds and likely he will pick up a big pot at some point this season.
Think the fly in the ointment is the Gollings horse in the 6.10, just a hunch, so going to put a little on to cover my Appelby bets.
