I realise that - but it's a fair point, none of us are immune to bias no matter how hard we try.

Instead of going straight in with VAR maybe having extra officials at the goal ends like they did in the European games would have been a good start.

Does anyone know how they man the VAR system when there are 8 games being played simultaneously?

I do occasionally read back but its rare; usually when I've got time to kill. Usually just read the last page

teams arguing about it - people are so convinced that tech is infallible the ref just taps his watch & everyone just goes "ah ok" <laugh>

Before goal line technology the goalie just picked up the ball and wellied it hoping nobody would notice...... and nobody did.

I tell you what bugs me that actually could be solved with some technology (or a linesman doing his job) pinching yards on a throw in. That Genk lad - their no. 2 - was brilliant at it over both games and didn't get called back once. A couple of paces is fine, he was taking two full stripes width. That's approximately 10 yards.

The days before technology weren't good either, fans (generally) just weren't aware of the ****up decisions being made because the decisions weren't/couldn't be replayed and rewatched from every angle. Also, the rules are there in black and white all over the internet for any joe blog to read and apply to what they've seen - fans never used to be aware of the intricacies of them. You'd claim offside, your mate would say it wasn't. No one can check. No one can replay it or rewatch it so who cares. Go have a drink. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

The post match analysis aint going away.
Fan-made analysis on youtube or twitter with angles not seen aren't going to stop.
They'll call out human error every time possible because they now can do.

So, technology within the game simply has to be used to keep up with it. I've said countless time my views on this but once more for the road; there's **** all wrong with VAR or the technology, there's everything wrong with our referees and how the FA has implemented it. Any issues in the CL games last week? I don't recall any.

I'm not a fan of it but if it can be used correctly within the game I'm happy to change my mind. The fact that at this point a goal is never a goal until checked is ruining football for me.

I think the "they're only human" element helped too.

With VAR, human error is supposed to be removed, the problem is the humans operating it meaning human error remains.
