I'm sure it was banana's i saw being cropped one time in a documentry, very labour intensive and bloody hard work. Skip straight to 45 seconds....
Soz, did i make it unclear? Actually caught the ****ers out today. As per normal, if i'm not on my truck, i work the heaviest grid, which included the bananas. Now i didn't know there was so many types, but there is this one type that always feels heavier. The average weight for a case is 17/18kg, So the 3 off us did a litle sneaky investigating today. This random type that always feels heavier, stated only 15kg on the box, so we took one to the industrial scales we have. Ah now we get, they are only 20.2 kg, no wonder they felt heavier. Don't seem like much, but those extra kg makes a difference when you are lifting them from floor level, to 1.8m,
The documentary I saw was different to the youtube vid I put up, in that they didn't have a overhead conveyor belt to the factory. It was literally manual labouring to the extent of carrying them the distance. So much so, any untrained person would risk dropping the weight, as soon has it is hacked from the stem. I don't think people realise how heavy banana's are, hence as you have highlighted.
Good where they recycle every aspect of their production. Although that all falls down in transportation!
Well if each case is 17/18kg, and theirs 45 cases per pallet (you do the matth) just to pump up a pallet truck on move them is bad enough. Then your headset tells you how many for each store, so you have to drag this weight, and then take each box, (don't forget how high they are for a shortarse) Think we had 35 pallets today, between 3, we banged it out in just over an hour. So 35 x 45 x 17/kg. Thats a lot of weight. Who the **** buys all these bananas?
It often falls down, like today when i smashed my knee as a box went away, ok some bruised fruit for some ****ers.
I think Bananas are quite a staple diet, unlike a lot of other fruit. Especially if you are vegetarian. I used to work with a Hindu, who's choice was to be Vegan I believe, he was always eating bananas. I prefer them over other fruits, if ive been poorly and need the energy.
but they block you up, if you eat to many, they say. for every good, there is a bad. So tonight i'm gonna have my fishcakes. cheese/onion.bacon mash, brocolli, carrots.
anyway had a pm from someone who shall rename unnamed, did that skiprat really want to fight me ffs? i've heard allsorts he's been saying tragic.
Yes a few, but you can't use them when others are not trained to use them, h and s and all that bollocks.
It’s not a matter of tight, it’s time. If they all waited for fork lifts it woul double or triple loading.
My son worked for Christen Salveson cold store for a while on uni breaks, good money but back breaking.
