I don’t believe that SP quite meant it like that. His main point is that Poch has worked wonders at our club, and I cannot see that any of us can reasonably deny that. What we are now witnessing is what happens when there is a disruption in Poch’s plans. He strikes me as a very particular individual who needs everything to be in place “just so” in order to be able to do what he does. Given the right conditions, Poch will, once again, work wonders for us. Please, stick with him, and don’t permit yourself to be dragged down to the level of Adrian Durham.
Why should Juventus be winning the cl. They are no where near being the richest club in Europe by your logic. Oh yes allegri improved then too as he was consistently finishing further in the cl so they are not the same
‘Has’ being the focal point. He has worked wonders, he no longer is. Right conditions? He arguably has the best squad he’s had in the Premier League since the 16/17 season and we’re 11th in the league and on a run of games that’s seen us win just 6 of our last 23 in the Prem. Poch tends to work better with an underdog mentality. When the stakes were raised like they were this season he’s crumbling and making more mistakes than he’s ever made.
Juventus massively underperform in the CL. Milan and Inter have only the same number of Serie A wins between them as Juventus but have won the CL five times more often. I imagine Allegri was hired to change that. I doubt winning the CL was even discussed when Poch was appointed.
I think Bob was pointing out that you said for us to be consistently in the top four we need to be the richest club in England, though proceeded to say Allegri should’ve done better in the CL despite Juve not being the richest club in Europe.
But if spurs arent expected to finish top 4 because of their budget why are juventus expected to win the cl against the budget of the premier League sides, real, barca, bayern, psg etc? I'm pretty sure top 4 were part of discussions for poch so why wouldnt you expect that to be an attainable target rather than an overachievement if you think likewise with juve?
So essentially what you’re saying is at the start of this season Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd all had better squads than us? And even if we go by your idea that we only have 6th best squad, why are we 11th right now?
All our young guns are better than your experienced pros dier. You know that mate. It whys we have a bet on Also who wouldnt take mustafi luiz and sokratis over toby jan and sanchez
I only meant that we shouldn't expect to finish top 4 every year with our current budget. Not never. I wouldn't expect Juventus to do well in the CL every year either but they have been consistently in the top 10 clubs in Europe and should have done better.
Weren't you saying how you have one of the most valuable squads in the world (thanks cies). Thats an indication of the quality of players. That was before the 100 odd million you spent in the summer...
I didn't say that. And we are only a quarter of the way through the season with some of our key players missing for long periods
So if juventus who do not have the budget to even be in the top 6 clubs of europe cant win the cl shouldnt we be expecting spurs who are in the top 6 budgets in the pl to be winning the league once then going by comparissons? Likewise surely we cant be expecting juve to win the league 5 times in a row if we expect anomalies to occur. Now im not saying allegri is categorically a better manager but to immediately dismiss him as inferior is folly
You said the sixth best. Who are the three better than us outside of City and Pool? We are a quarter of the way through but we’re already 10 points off of the top four. That’s a hell of a lot work to claw back and it’s not in our hands either. Every team suffers injuries, that’s part and parcel of football. If you feel we get excessive amounts then questions would then need be raised over either the training methods or the medical staff.
