You don’t think results should be a reason why a manager is sacked?

What other criteria comes anywhere as important as results?

I’m truly baffled you said that

? ? ? I've been on the keep Poch side right through this! Having come from the era when most managers stayed for years & years however good or bad their team was I just cannot believe some would want to ditch Poch so soon. OK so we have not won any trophys (yet) but until this dip we've had some great seasons with him. When the lovely 'Arry was sacked & we lost Bale the club was in the doldrums for ages which was depressing. Poch was like a breath of fresh air after a couple of duds. I don't want to return to that sequence again. Have some patience folks, keep the faith, we're not as bad as Man U. Its a big old wheel, sometimes at the top, much time in the middleish & occasionally at the bottom ( although not for about 50 years for us & never in the Prem). Cheers to you all, love your debates x

On the face of it that wouldn't be so bad, because if we'd won 50% of our games so far (say 6 out of 11) we'd be 5th at present but we've won just 27%. And if you factor in our poor form since Burnley last season, we're at 26% in terms of games won, with 6 wins from 23 league games.

If this was just a poor start to the season I think most of us would more or less be saying it is just a blip as some others have but this is now a poor prolonged sequence of results and as of yet there's been no sign of turning a corner.

It is very simple. You need 100 results to get a proper measure and even then you don't have the counterfactual of what a different manager would have achieved.
So you simply can't use results as a measure.
You need something cleverer. I would say that in each of his first five seasons Poch massively outperformed any reasonable criteria. The football was good, the squad was happy and he was very consistent in his approach. Recently not so. He has made more mistakes than he did previously. But why should that continue? Which Poch is most likely to turn up in the future? The magical manager of the first five seasons or the poor one we seem to have now? Unless I can see him in action on a daily basis and identify something that is broken I am going to stick with him. If something is broken I ttust Levy to sack him.

You seem to want a manager who came 11th in his fourth season to replace Poch who is 11th in his sixth season...

You could put it this way as well

he wants a manager who in his last 5 years won 5 league trophies to replace a manager who has overachieved in his first 4 but is now failing miserably in his 5th year.

No Spurs manager other than Poch has been above 50% games won. The most likely 'cause' of our current form in my view is that we've massively overperformed previously and this is more a reversion to the norm as Poch has been unable to perform at his best due to stadium moves, squad uncertainty and the effect of the CL run alongside a bad run of injuries.

Indeed. But Allegri didn't get Juventus far in the CL and I doubt he would have got top 4 in England on our budget.

Or I’d want a manager with 6 league titles and 7 domestic trophies to his name over someone with 0 league titles and 0 trophies.

A reversion to the norm? So 11th in the league is where we should be at?

Not comparing apples with apples. Were Milan or Juventus better off after Sllegri than before he joined? Milan definitely not. Juventus about the same.

He got them to two finals in his five seasons? So winning 5 leagues in a row is nothing but getting top 4 in the league on a budget is a better achievement

p.s. ranieri did it so I'm going to assume that allegri could also do it. Likewise Rodgers looks like he might be able to do it too

I don't expect us to finish 11th. But I don't expect us to be in the top four every year either. At least not until we become the richest club in England.

Yes I know he might be better but I don't see it as being proven. Juventus ought to be winning the CL occassionally. Spurs have been in it more times under Poch thsn all previous managers put together.

Our form over 23 successive league games says that’s where we’re heading.

Why not? Right now we have the third best squad in the league. We should be expecting top four. If Poch can no longer deliver it then he’s not the man for it anymore.
