No mate...no one is to blame for anything at Spurs It’s just life...we at Spurs shouldn’t really be aiming any higher...we should be sitting on our laurels and basking in the glory of a few seasons ago when we finished 2nd and if you contest this with me I will remind you that we are punching above our weight anyway
I'm not sure how you can say that, have you ever seen his wife go for a header? The fact that Barren Dent was still kvetching about this comment several years (and just as many clubs...) later underlines why managers shouldn't slag their players off in public unless they do something like headbutting the referee for leaving the toilet seat up before the game, because it's hardly a motivating tactic. Give them both barrels in private by all means, but throwing them under the bus rarely has the desired effect - which is why Steptonho is working as a pundit
The man is a ****ing idiot for picking Eriksen week in week out and is sitting on his laurels regardless
You say don't get sucked into the media claptrap yet use the narrative that it was solely on the board for not strengthening, when not only certain journalists said Poch vetoed moves but Levy himself said to the THST that there were funds available to spend in the 18/19 season. As for the ageing squad, for sure there's a few players who are 30+ but of those only one plays in a physically demanding position and has yet to show any signs of slowing up - Sissoko. Jan, Toby and Hugo are all in positions where in general, 30 to roughly 33 is where they enjoy great years of football. Our squad is actually entering a period where we should be seeing the best results, most are experienced though still have plenty of years left in the tank, yet somehow we're playing the worst we have during Poch's reign. Poch isn't taking the blame because he's a fall guy, he's taking the blame because he's making baffling decisions and seemingly can't get the best out of a squad who should be doing so much better.
“Blame” is the wrong word. I certainly am saying that the Club’s current state of affairs is, at the very least, as much the fault of the board as it is Poch’s. I refuse to get dragged into the blame game, as it isn’t going to get us anywhere other than even further backwards. I choose to believe that everyone at the club is working together to fix things.
So everything wrong with the club is down to Eriksen? He’s merely one piece in the jigsaw. What’s the point in Eriksen playing at his former levels if there is something more fundamentally awry at the club?
No of course it isn’t down to just Eriksen. Eriksen shouldn’t be playing atm though, I’ve stuck up for him but recently he’s been nothing short of woeful and imo Poch should find some sort of solution.
Least they’d know how to defend Don’t forget reaching the champions league final which means Poch should never ever be sacked even if Spurs lose close to 50% of matches.
This is the issue, though Solution A: Lo Celso...currently lacking match fitness Solution B: Lamela...currently injured Solution C: Alli...currently playing back to match fitness Solution D: Try a new formation...and we did that, but it was bloody awful
It’s only loyalty that making me back Poch...he’s only got himself to blame for his match day brainfarts and press conference meltdowns
