Good Morning. Its Tuesday 5th November, and here is the latest news from Elland Road

    Kiko charged by FA

Kiko Casilla has been charged by the FA with racially abusing Charlton Athletic's Jonathan Leko during the Championship game between the clubs on September 2

The charge relates to FA Rule E3 which pertains to 'general behaviour' which could include violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting behaviour.

Leeds say he strenuously denies the allegation and has proactively worked with the FA during the investigation to date. He will request a personal hearing.

Should Casilla be found Guilty, it be almost certainly mean that Illan Meslier will be thrown in at the deep end, and although the French International U20 has put together some stunning performances for the U23's, the Championship is a completely different kettle of fish.

It would also mean that one of the currently loanees with have to be omitted from the squad as FA rules state that no more than five can be included. Bielsa consistently uses up his quota. with Meslier the player who narrowly misses out. If he plays, this will almost certainly spell the end of Jack Clarke tenure at Elland Road as he would be the natural choice.

    Put yourself in Radrizzani's shoes

Recently we have seen Derby players charged with drink driving, then fleeing the scene, only the Rams hierarchy to fine them six weeks wages, and for business to return to normal. Only Keough has been hung out to dry, and he wasn't even driving! Many believe it had more to do with the players age and saving a considerable salary, especially with Rooney joining Pride Park in January.

In the past we've seen high profile players like Terry, Forestieri and countless others charged and found guilty of racist comments, yet most times the clubs stand by them. I wonder how much pressure will be put on Leeds to terminate the contract of the former Real Madrid keeper, now rated in the 5m bracket. I wonder how quickly thereafter another English team snap him up?

Putting you in the shoes of Radrizzani, should Casilla be found guilty, what punishment would you give him?

Recently Twitter announced they were to make checks on the top 50 black footballers on their social media platform for racist comments!

If we were to be asked to describe someone that was black, would it make you feel nervous / uneasy about how to describe their ethnicity or should more be done to embrace our fellow man?

    In other news

Nketiah expected to be out of action for 3 weeks - Whelan

Leeds Soccer pundit Noel Whelan has been discussing Nketiah's injury and timescale for recovery!

"He has a stomach muscle strain and those are nasty injuries. He was going for a scan and we are awaiting the results of that, but I think he will be unable to play for around three weeks, maybe more.

“It doesn’t surprise me he has a strain around that region because he is a dynamic player and those types are more prone to them.

“It will take time to repair the damage, and that is a major blow as he would have started on Saturday.”

Milner - Dorigo was boyhood idol

James Milner revealed that his first Leeds shirt with a players name on the back was Tony Dorigo! Perhaps he had a foresight that twenty years later, he too would become one of the best attacking wing backs in the Country! He went on to say that later on, he also had Yeboah and Bowyer!

Alioski injury led to formation change

With Alioski injured last weekend, Bielsa tinkered with formation against QPR and opted to ditch his wing-backs in favour of an extra midfielder and a number ten as he used more of a 3-1-2-3-1 rather than his famed 3-3-1-3.

How do you think it worked?

With regard the system, the first 10 minutes or so, the play seemed all over the place, players looked a little confused, as did the fans, then it seemed to click and from then on we looked very good.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

crap news about Eddie so we may not even see him start for the club if Arsenal recall him in January, wonder if Pat will have scored by Xmas? Wonder what our back up plan is? Potential strikers who have played up front: Harrison, Roberts, Stevens, Edmondson or Costa?

The Derby thing I really dont give a toss about and feel no sympathy for Keogh even though he has been shafted, but not just him because another player was sacked as well but he was an academy graduate who now has no club. These 2 players hold no book value to thrown out whereas Bennett and Lawrence have a few million book value and wont be thrown out because it would mean the club throwing millions of quid away.

If Kiko gets done we will be in a similar place to Derby because Kiko has a high book value as well as a huge wage bill and if his contract doesnt have a clause about being sacked the club will be liable for £1.9m per year until 2021. No club can afford to just sack a high value player, so pointless having a go at Derby and then watching the same happen to us and saying nothing. Anyway we shouldnt say Kiko is guilty, as he refutes the charge and there are no witnesses just the word of an African player who said a Spanish player said something. Negredo sounds worse than it is but isnt that Spanish for black? And if Kiko was bollocking Cooper for leaving the negredo player in space, isnt that just Kiko trying to express the difference in players because hes an overseas player himself who isnt a fluent English speaker. The FA are fkg bent

Had the club been given an opportunity to sack kiko in the summer I’m pretty sure they would have taken it. Now, with an upturn in form?

The idea there would be a queue for his services? On his wages?

He’d go back to Spain and play for a fraction of what he’s on.

    All conjecture.

fact of the matter is that on the books at Leeds Utd he is valued at between £3m and £8m in fact he was bought by Real Madrid for £6.75m and since then has won 3 Champions Leagues titles. No club sacks players as it only rewards the player whilst trashing your own company accounts and showing a huge loss. Kiko would walk away on a free transfer effectively and get a huge signing on fee for his next club and because he was free he would indeed demand a high wage. Football business is crap and needs changing so that either that a sacked player cannot play again for anyone until the club are recompensed, or an insurance type system is in place to pay the sacking club the value of the player. This is all politics and player unions etc but without change punishing a player only punishes your own club

not sure Mike but some seem to suggest that Eddie wants to play more and not happy, advised by Wrighty who likes Bristol City who were promising him first team football plus problems at Arsenal. I do however think we have employed someone to liaise with loaning clubs, loaned players and both parties agents and medical/coaching teams. I also believe Bielsa has been trying a system where both players start, so who can say

Whatever nominal fee we have as an asset for him, we paid no fee for him... just extremely high wages... because real wanted him off their wage bill and it guaranteed him higher wages than anyone in Spain would pay. So we have no sunk transfer fee costs and at 33 on his wages, who’s paying a big fee for him?

What we are is tied into premier league wages for 4 years for a guy who last year was not championship standard. We did that because we and he expected us to get promoted. I don’t know the clause of the contract but generally, if someone commits gross misconduct you can get rid without paying them off. So yes clubs do sack players... but only if it’s in their interests to do so... ie the ones they want rid of... ask Richard Keogh. My point was in the summer, it would have been in our interests... now with his upturn in form and no proven back-up, I’d question that.

I don’t see it happening anyway

milky you are using your personal dislike of Kiko to talk some crap mate and I dont normally say stuff like that but..

name me a player who has been sacked who was worth a lot of cash, the only one I can think of was the Chelsea player done for class A drugs. He was sacked but only because Chelsea had a clause in his contract which also stopped him from signing for anyone else. He finished up having to pay Chelsea millions to allow him to play again.

no club will sack a player worth a lot of money because they cannot just write millions off.

keogh is out of contract in the summer so peanuts to sack him now as he cant play for another year anyway. The other 2 were fined 6 weeks wages not even suspended for more than one match because they have long contracts and high value.

God gave us eyes to see colour, only the colourblind have an affliction.

I'd say it as my eyes see it, not as someone wants me to see it.

If a black man ain't comfortable with the colour of his skin, then the problems lay with the black man.

Looks like Warnock leaving at the right time, as Cardiff are in line to be handed a 3 transfer window embargo. No transfers in January, none next Summer or indeed next Xmas which means the next transfer they can do would be Summer 2021

unless they pay Nantes £4.5m which is what the arbitration court found to be correct for Emilio Salas

It would depend on specific terms but if you are in breach of contract generally, it costs nothing to sack someone... so for a football club you only sack someone if you want rid... hence the injured keogh goes, the other two stay.

We paid 0, nothing, zilch in transfer fees for kiko. Not because he was worth nothing but because of his wages. We would get 0, nothing zilch for him now for the same reason.

He’s only nominally worth millions on an asset sheet, he’s worth zero whilst he’s on 40k a week over 4 years. He’s pretty much unsellable unless he shines as the star of the division. He’s 33 and the medals he won sitting on the bench for Real Madrid don’t count for much when a club is getting their cheque book out.

As for a personal dislike of him. My understanding from those I know who know him, is that he’s a nice guy. My opinion was that he was a liability last year. An opinion shared by a significant number of Leeds fans. This year he has been much improved, though not faultless, and I am happy to give him credit for upping his game.

So, I agree that you would rarely get rid of an ‘asset’ - unless you wanted rid. His wages are 8 million reasons for getting rid.... IF you are unhappy with his performances. Which is why I made a clear distinction between the summer and now.
